What truly made him smile, of course, was the change that had appeared on his status panel. He had developed a newly named technique. Technique effect: strengthened chakra control.
"We'll call it carkcontrol. Simple and easy to understand." Looking at the blank skill-name slot on the status panel, Mirai felt delighted. Then, under the "Skill Name" column, the word "carkcontrol" appeared letter by letter like a typist at 0.1% proficiency.
Mirai was pleased that he had essentially achieved his goal. At least, his effort and time had not been wasted. Checking the time, he realized it was already late at night. He had spent the entire evening almost continuously refining chakra. Now that he stopped, he realized how exhausted he was.
Worried that Mirai would harm his body, he did not continue refining chakra.
With some free time left, he figured he had already tried more than half of the one-handed seals. He did not know whether completing them all would ultimately upgrade the "one-handed seal" technique, but he still wanted to maintain his fighting spirit and learn the remaining individual hand seals that night.
Since some time had passed, Mirai worried that his memories of several seals he had learned earlier had become vague. He carefully performed the first seal he had learned, and only after confirming there were no problems
did he begin learning the remaining seals.
Using the Boar and Dog seals as examples, with his experience from practicing the earlier seals one-handed, Mirai became familiar with the remaining seals in just over ten minutes.
However, after checking the status panel, he found no sign that the hand-seal technique had successfully upgraded. Filled with excitement and anticipation, Mirai felt somewhat disappointed.
But he did not give up. He took a deep breath and reined in his disappointment.
