(Chapter 15: Challenge Mission)
[Ding--! The host has accepted a challenge mission!]
Mirai and Oki stepped onto the field and faced each other. Oki looked at Mirai and said, "You little brat, I'll make you understand the consequences of crossing me."
"Didn't you already get a taste of what happens when you cross me?" Mirai replied casually. His scornful, unconcerned tone made the veins on Oki's forehead bulge.
"Begin!" the referee announced, then stepped aside.
Oki vanished the instant the referee called the start of the match, reappearing behind Mirai. He was incredibly fast. He was giving it his all, even against a child like Mirai—proof of just how furious Mirai had made him.
Oki's fist came down toward Mirai's head. A ferocious expression twisted his face as he snarled, "You brat! You're going down right here!"
Whoosh! Mirai darted forward, then stopped after a series of somersaults.
Boom!! Oki's punch left a huge crater where Mirai had been standing. The stone tiles there were badly damaged. The proctors' eyes twitched as they saw that Oki had shown no intention of holding back. If that punch had landed on a child, it would have caused serious injuries, if not killed him.
Mirai's nerves instantly went taut. That speed had been so great that he hadn't even been able to follow Oki with his eyes; he had dodged purely on instinct. Oki really was a powerful ninja, and he seemed especially skilled at Taijutsu.
"So you dodged, brat. Not bad. But how many more times do you think you can evade me?" Oki charged at Mirai again. Sensing the danger, Mirai knew he would have to give it his all. Otherwise, he might actually be killed by this guy if he let his guard down.
Mirai activated his Sharingan.
