Some Settings of This Book

After a long delay, I am finally picking up the pen again. Let's alternate between this book and Great Demon King; a change in style, a change in mood—yeah.

First, of course, I must explain my various concepts and thoughts on the Naruto world-building to the readers. Since this isn't the actual story, I'll be casual and ramble wherever my thoughts take me.

I came up with this book a while ago. I've mentioned the reason in my previous book: most Naruto system-based novels follow the "otherworld" trope. Honestly, looking at Qidian, there are only two that are readable, and even those didn't quite satisfy me by the end. I think many of you have experienced this: the more you read, the pickier your appetite becomes. Sometimes a great creative spark is ruined by a plot point you personally dislike. For me, I dislike harems. Most readers on Qidian are male, and to cater to them, many authors throw open the harem gates. I can't deny that some great authors have portrayed the women in their harems well, but more often than not, the characters are cookie-cutter and the plots are all the same. For example, if the protagonist is a student loser, after getting some lucky encounter, his grades suddenly skyrocket. Then the class beauty (usually the class monitor or some big sister figure) or the shy desk-mate who has had a crush on him for ages is shocked. He'll stun everyone during the college entrance exam (or high school entrance exam if he's younger), becoming the top scorer. Classmates refuse to believe it, and then comes the first "face-slapping" moment. After that, he goes to college, and he absolutely cannot let the beautiful teacher go. He's definitely not going to be comfortable in the dorm, so he moves out. What? Shared housing? With a beautiful landlady or roommate? He's in luck! If there are two bathrooms, the readers won't even stand for it! Then one day, the protagonist accidentally walks in on someone bathing...

And so on and so forth. Helping a policewoman solve a case, running into a beauty being robbed/assaulted, meeting a cute girl selling herself to save her father, beautiful hackers, beautiful big sisters—all the beauties the protagonist could never touch before suddenly pop up in a flood. Push down, push down, push down—sigh.

If we shift to a high-power martial arts setting, it's much the same. The academy teacher, the top-ranked senior sister (if the top rank is a man, he's definitely the protagonist's rival), a big sister from a major clan "visiting incognito," sisters (both of them), the childhood sweetheart from before the protagonist made it big—as long as it's female, even a goddess will be pushed down for you to see!

I have a lot of resentment here, perhaps because I'm being serious, but I hold a very sacred attitude toward love. It is a very, very beautiful aspect of human social interaction. I would rather my protagonist spend his whole life in battle than be promiscuous. In my previous book, Great Demon King, my initial plan was to have no heroine, but then I thought, everyone needs a warm harbor, so I eventually arranged a girl for the protagonist. She was the only female character in that book I spent any ink on, a way to give our brother Hui a home.

In the Naruto fanfiction currently on Qidian, the vast majority are fan-works, with a small portion being "otherworld" or "apocalypse" styles—the so-called system novels. The former is fine, some even have a single heroine, but the latter isn't so great. Many heroines, which I don't really like.

Furthermore, there is the issue of the protagonist. Regarding his personality, I won't discuss other works here, only my own. In my mind, the protagonist should be a man who is decisive in killing, dares to take responsibility, discards the "loser" mentality of his past life, and possesses the heart of the strong. I wrote this idea into Great Demon King, which is why the protagonist, Hui, became a much colder image than the protagonists you usually see in Naruto fanfiction. I really like the book Dragon Snake Evolution and was influenced by Meng Ru Shen Ji. The protagonist of my previous book had a bit of Wang Chao (the protagonist of Dragon Snake Evolution) in him—a sort of tribute.

Additionally, regarding some Naruto characters, to repeat an old saying: I insist on the original work and respect the original work. Of course, this refers to the characters' personalities, the unfolding of events, and the vast majority of ninjutsu. The protagonist himself will need some original ninjutsu, but it cannot violate the scope of Naruto. Things like time-ninjutsu cannot appear in Naruto. The power ceiling of Naruto is Kaguya Otsutsuki; she is the origin of chakra, equivalent to Pangu who created the world in Chinese mythology. Pangu created the world, and Kaguya created chakra. The protagonist can surpass her in the end, but I can't mess around. Five-element chakra ninjutsu, various bloodline limits led by the Sharingan, Yin and Yang release led by Six Paths Obito, Six Paths Madara, and Kaguya, senjutsu led by Naruto and the First Hokage Hashirama, and the Eight Gates led by Might Guy—these are the foundations. Honestly, looking back at my previous book now, I have mixed feelings. For instance, the beginning wasn't handled very well, though I corrected it a bit later, which served as a sort of compensation. I feel I have improved greatly since then. Here, I want to thank my Chinese teacher—only the teacher, because I didn't learn any useful writing techniques in middle or high school. My current writing style was practiced through writing self-criticism letters. Haha, just kidding.

I am determined not to let Great Demon King end poorly or be abandoned. I feel I've put more effort into this book than other authors, because I am not a professional writer. I don't sign contracts, I don't go on shelves, and I don't make money. To say something arrogant: I write for the sake of interest and for that joy from my childhood that can no longer be found. I agonize over every move in the fight scenes, striving for clarity and logic. I lament the tragedies in Naruto, but standing on the protagonist's side, I cannot arrange for him to make changes, because the protagonist is already a member of the Naruto world, not a savior, not a transmigrator. I praise those characters who struggle or even sacrifice for their dreams, regardless of good or evil. I strive to construct a relatively systematic power system and ninjutsu system for the Naruto world. I insist on not using the term "Kage-level." I am proud to have written a Great Demon King that can be recognized by everyone.

So, for this book—the system-based Naruto story I am about to start—the background is still the Naruto world. It is July 21st, and the title hasn't been decided yet, but there's no rush. As for the settings of this book, to keep it simple: the protagonist transmigrates and has a system. A cliché start, but I hope to write something fresh.

Next, I will explain my understanding of Naruto after the training of my previous book:

First, let's look at taijutsu. Taijutsu is the simplest power system in Naruto. Its attacks are simple and plain, yet unexpectedly powerful. Even in a manga dominated by ninjutsu and dojutsu, it holds its own place. Here, I divide it into three levels.

Taijutsu Section.

The first level is the initial control of one's own body and overcoming the fear of close-quarters combat. This is easy to understand. When ninjas fight with ninjutsu, they keep their distance, but in taijutsu combat, one often faces gleaming blades, which is terrifying for a novice. In real life, if people saw someone pointing a knife at them, they'd probably be too scared to move. So, in a real fight, we must overcome ourselves. When a blade comes swinging, one must remain calm and have the courage to strike back. Reaching this level usually means the ninja has seen blood. As we know, in the Zabuza arc, Naruto was too scared to move when he first saw blood, but he ruthlessly stabbed himself with a kunai to wake up and regain his courage. In the battles that followed, Naruto never hesitated again, charging forward and defeating all enemies!

I admire Naruto, and I truly hope everyone can be like him: kind and fearless.

The second level is mastering the techniques and power to defeat enemies through taijutsu and achieving relatively fine control over the body. The gap here is much larger. Representative figures are Lee and the Raikage, and the representative taijutsu is the Eight Gates. At this level, a ninja needs to be able to develop the hidden power within the body. If we translate this to the "Infinite" genre, it's opening the Gene Lock; if we translate it to Dragon Ball, it's transforming. That should be understandable. At this level, one can control most of their muscles and bones, so explosive power is greatly increased, and physical quality is enhanced. If one reaches the level of the Raikage, they can resist sharp weapons with their bare body, or even withstand a Rasenshuriken head-on without dying. Relying purely on taijutsu to approach the speed of sound, plus the Body Flicker Technique, breaking the sound barrier is simple.

The third level is the complete mastery of one's own flesh, like the protagonist of my previous book or Adam, freely adjusting one's power, speed, and physical strength. For example, if a person's combat power in speed, strength, and physical strength is 100, they can instantly increase their strength to nearly 300 during a fight, or their speed, or their physical strength—whatever they want. And the most important point: when this setting is brought into the Naruto background, it is equivalent to this person mastering every gate of the Eight Gates. If they completely disregard their own tolerance, it reaches the level of opening the final gate, the Gate of Death, completely liberating their body. Without needing the Body Flicker Technique, they can easily break the sound barrier purely with their body. The naked eye can no longer capture their movements. When they throw a punch, they can compress the air and create steam. However, relatively speaking, the Eight Gates only increase speed and strength, while causing greater damage to the body, so it cannot synchronize the increase in physical strength. The body will completely collapse in just over ten seconds. Of course, if one reaches this level, unless they have obtained a Six Paths body—like the body of Six Paths Madara, or the Sage of Six Paths and Kaguya—then no matter who it is, they can be blown apart with a single punch. This is the pinnacle of Naruto taijutsu, and also its end.

Ninjutsu Section.

The concept of ninjutsu is very broad. Here, I divide it into four levels. The first is the initial mastery of chakra application, capable of using some low-level ninjutsu. There's nothing much to say here; even Naruto, who couldn't even perform a proper Clone Technique at the Ninja Academy, counts, because he did manage to create a clone, even if it was useless.

The second level is the fine-tuning of chakra manipulation, capable of walking vertically up trees or on water. Reaching this level means one has entered the hall of ninjutsu mastery, because the foundation of ninjutsu is chakra. Once you master the method of controlling chakra, learning ninjutsu becomes natural.

The third level: the gap here also begins to widen. Ninjas must start mastering chakra changes, namely shape transformation and nature transformation. The representative ninjutsu are the Rasengan and Chidori. Furthermore, various chakra changes also include some bloodline limits, which is the so-called mixing of chakra natures. The representative figure is the Fifth Mizukage, Mei Terumi. She is the only ninja in the original work who possesses two bloodline limits, and they were completely developed by herself. Unlike traditional bloodline limits passed down through lineage, this kind of bloodline limit can be explored on one's own as long as one has sufficient understanding and control over chakra.

The final level is merging all natures of chakra into one, which is the origin of ninjutsu: Yin-Yang Release. Reaching this realm, one can be said to be immune to all methods. Except for senjutsu and taijutsu, no ninjutsu or genjutsu can break through their defense, and no defense can resist their attacks. Even the Impure World Reincarnation body, known for its immortality, won't work; if hit, it will be fundamentally obliterated. Besides this, ninjas at this level can use all the ninjutsu in the world. Of course, compared to Yin-Yang Release, this is hardly worth mentioning.

Genjutsu Section.

In the original work, the mechanism of genjutsu is very vague. Here, we still divide it into three levels. The first: the starting point for mastering genjutsu is higher than that for ninjutsu and taijutsu. It requires the caster to have a good grasp of chakra circulation, capable of using chakra to interfere with the enemy's senses. This is the most basic genjutsu. Unlike ninjutsu and taijutsu, the first level of genjutsu has a large span, including not only the most basic genjutsu but also high-level genjutsu that completely seals the enemy's senses, such as the Darkness Technique. Generally speaking, as long as it infects the enemy's chakra and five senses, it belongs to this level.

The second level: the caster's genjutsu can gradually detach from the real world. In their genjutsu, time, space, mass, etc., begin to deviate from common sense. You all know the representative genjutsu without me saying it: Tsukuyomi. But this level of genjutsu also includes Izanami, Kotoamatsukami, and the strongest genjutsu, Infinite Tsukuyomi. As for Tsukuyomi, it is the genjutsu that best embodies this level, manipulating everything in the Tsukuyomi space at will. I won't explain it much here. Izanami is somewhat similar, constructing an infinitely looping genjutsu world. If the target does not deny themselves, they will sink into the genjutsu world forever and never escape—very vicious. As for Kotoamatsukami, this technique directly manipulates everything in the world perceived by the target, even including their own will. Moreover, the intensity of this genjutsu is such that it can use the genjutsu world to override the control of Impure World Reincarnation, which acts directly on the soul of the dead. It can be said to have reached a starting point where false genjutsu interferes with reality. Finally, there is Infinite Tsukuyomi. Purely in terms of intensity, this technique is undoubtedly the number one genjutsu in the Naruto world, but its depth is not necessarily that exaggerated. It can be seen as a collection of countless Tsukuyomi, but because its intensity is so great, it can trap everyone in the world in genjutsu.

The final level is "turning the false into the real," using genjutsu to interfere with reality. This is a further level beyond Kotoamatsukami, and the genjutsu representing this level, currently known, is only one: Izanagi.

Izanagi, this technique itself is a technique used by the Sage of Six Paths to create the world. Creating something from nothing is its portrayal. It can construct reality from "nothing," equivalent to what we call creation from the void. But this technique was passed down to later generations and, because of the users, became a technique that travels between dreams and reality, distorting reality. Thus, it is countered by Izanami, the second-level genjutsu. Even so, it is the only genjutsu in the Naruto world that can interfere with reality. But in fact, this technique itself is not used to tamper with reality; in a true sense, this technique is not a genjutsu, but a Yin-Yang Release technique used for creation. The Izanagi referred to as a third-level genjutsu refers to the kind used by Danzo and Madara, not the Izanagi used by the Sage of Six Paths that once created the Tailed Beasts.

The three most basic aspects of the ninja power system have been finished. Next, let's briefly talk about other things.

Bloodline Limit Section.

Bloodline limits are not divided into levels; there are only differences in origin. One is that the ancestor of a bloodline family integrated their understanding of bloodline ninjutsu into their bloodline, thus passing it down to later generations. The other is self-development, relying on the understanding and mastery of chakra to fuse different natures of chakra to form a new bloodline.

Sharingan Section.

Divided into: One Tomoe, enhanced dynamic vision. Two Tomoe, further enhanced vision, capable of copying ninjutsu and taijutsu. Three Tomoe, vision can capture high-speed moving objects, such as Naruto using Nine-Tails chakra; after training, one can also capture the movement of Killer B in Tailed Beast Cloak mode, and can copy most ninjutsu, taijutsu, and reflect a certain level of genjutsu. It is the pinnacle that the eyes of ordinary Uchiha members can reach. Mangekyou, an evolution after the brain receives strong stimulation; vision declines when used. Judging from Obito's experience, it seems it doesn't necessarily need to evolve from Three Tomoe (Obito evolved directly from Two Tomoe). The abilities possessed by the two eyes depend on the person, but after both eyes are gathered, one can use Susanoo. And judging from Kakashi's experience, the Mangekyou Sharingan can use the final form of Susanoo, depending on the amount of pupil power. Ordinary people definitely can't use it; it must be the Eternal Mangekyou. Eternal Mangekyou, two pairs of Mangekyou combined into one (requires a blood relationship, such as biological brothers), no risk of blindness, pupil power and Susanoo's power are further enhanced. Ordinary people can use the final form of Susanoo at this stage, and it is the ultimate move of the Sharingan. Rinnegan, evolved by someone with an Eternal Mangekyou after seizing the power of life (the source of the power of life in Naruto is the First Hokage Hashirama). Can use the Six Paths Technique, that is, the Six Paths of Pain, possessing seven abilities that defy common sense. The Sage of Six Paths once used one of the abilities to create the moon. Nine-Tomoe Rinnegan, only obtained by Kaguya and Sasuke, abilities depend on the person. In addition, the Ten-Tails' eye is also one, but it does not possess its abilities.

Senjutsu Section.

Known characters who can use senjutsu are Hashirama, Jiraiya, Minato Namikaze, Naruto, and Kabuto. In addition, those who possess senjutsu chakra include Orochimaru (Orochimaru said himself that Kabuto's body contains his senjutsu chakra, but because Orochimaru didn't use senjutsu in the original work, we won't discuss it for now) and Jugo (the source of Orochimaru's research on senjutsu, born with senjutsu chakra). Capable of sensing the energy contained in nature, the attack range is expanded, perception is greatly improved, and all aspects of ability are enhanced, equivalent to a transformation.

Tailed Beast Section.

One to Nine Tails, one cannot simply determine their combat power by the number of tails. That is to say, the Nine-Tails' combat power will not be nine times that of the One-Tail, but the strongest is the Nine-Tails, followed by the Eight-Tails; this point is correct. Their carriers, the jinchuriki, can use the power of the Tailed Beasts. The representatives are the Eight-Tails jinchuriki Killer B and Naruto in the later stages.

Combat Ability Section.

In Naruto, some people have very destructive ninjutsu, such as Pain, while some ninjas, although they don't have these techniques, are not weak in combat power, such as the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze. Here, we must know that a ninja's body is very weak compared to their destructive power, unless it is a special body, such as the Six Paths body, the Raikage's flesh, or Hashirama's body full of life force. For ordinary ninjas, being crushed to pieces by Shinra Tensei is death, and having their throat cut by a kunai is also death. Therefore, one cannot judge their strength solely by the grandeur of the ninja's combat scene.

Phew, that's about it. It counts as a general setting; more specific details will be mentioned in the book.
