Not far away, Black Zetsu, who had been lurking in the shadows and observing, stared in surprise at the skeletal frame protecting Shisui Uchiha. In all its centuries of life, it had never seen Susanoo in this form.
Even the successive reincarnations of Indra's Chakra over the past centuries—not even Indra himself—had ever used Susanoo in such a form.
What Black Zetsu couldn't understand was how Shisui Uchiha, who seemed like an otherwise unremarkable member of the Uchiha Clan, could do something that Indra himself and all his reincarnations had failed to achieve.
It wasn't that Shisui's Susanoo was particularly strong. Even its strongest form, the third stage that Shisui could currently use, was nothing special in Black Zetsu's eyes. It was still two stages short of Uchiha Madara's Complete Body Susanoo.
But empowered by that white skeleton, Shisui's Susanoo was different in one major way: it seemed alive, no longer an intangible mass of gathered chakra.
It was something even Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the eldest son of its mother and the absolute unfilial son in Black Zetsu's eyes, had never managed to achieve.
After all, Hagoromo Otsutsuki was the ancestor of the Uchiha Clan.
And with Shisui Uchiha having always been "extraordinary," Black Zetsu couldn't shake the deep sense of unease rising within it.
That white skeleton was the new form of Susanoo Shisui had developed using the Shikotsumyaku within his body, empowered by the Dance of Susanoo.
"Phew. It's been a while since I fought on my own. I'm a little out of practice."
Under Shisui's control, the skeletal frame of Susanoo's initial form extended a gigantic bone hand and seized the giant Chameleon. The hand squeezed, applying tremendous pressure as the Chameleon thrashed, trying to escape the
