The moment Uchiha Iori pushed open the door, a low sound of sobbing reached his ears.
He looked over with curiosity and discovered a few guys with clashing aesthetics sitting together at a table.
There were three of them in total.
One was a massive man with a tall build wearing strange armor;
One was a massive man wearing a tank top and a cape;
And the last was a man dressed and groomed like an early 20th-century European gentleman.
Unlike the lively drinking and merrymaking happening elsewhere, these three sat in the corner, gloomy and dejected, constantly sobbing, which truly piqued his curiosity.
Uchiha Iori couldn't help but walk a few steps closer, wanting to hear what they were talking about.
The armored giant choked out, "Do you know, when I first transmigrated, I thought my script was about conquering the Middle Ages."
His voice was low, carrying a trace of helplessness and despair, "Because I carried the memories of my past life, combined with the extraordinary constitution I naturally possessed in this life, it was easy for me to raise an army and establish my own base of operations after coming of age."
"After repelling several attacks from the nobility, I felt the time was ripe and led my army to begin a counter-offensive."
"Everything was going smoothly at first, until I led my troops to the front of the largest lord's castle in the region."
At this point, his voice trembled and his eyes turned red, "The result... the result..."
Uchiha Iori felt the story sounded familiar as he listened, as if he had heard something similar somewhere before.
The person next to him pressed, "Then what? What happened?"
"The castle grew legs and stood up. That damn thing wasn't a castle, it was a mech. This world is the Knight World of the Warhammer 40k universe." As he spoke, the giant broke down in tears.
Pfft, Iori couldn't help but stifle a laugh.
The fact that someone actually transmigrated to a hellhole like Warhammer 40k and wasn't corrupted by the Chaos Gods on the spot was a miracle in itself.
"Then how did you survive? That was a Knight Titan."
Iori asked curiously. Judging from the previous description, he was at most at the level of a Space Marine without equipment; there was no way he could dismantle a mech with his bare hands, and running away would have been a long shot.
The Space Marine wiped his tears, "Oh, the Blood Angels saved me. I transmigrated because of a deal between Alaya and the Emperor. Once I lived to see the Emperor, my mission was complete."
"I wasn't targeted by the Chaos Gods because of the protection of Alaya and the Emperor. Now, I am an apothecary for the Blood Angels."
Uchiha Iori's eyes lit up.
"Buddy, can you get your hands on data related to genetic technology, as well as information on high-yield crops and agricultural construction? Something at the land-reclamation level would be fine."
"The level of agriculture in the world I'm in is just that of an ancient Eastern society; I can't even make use of anything too advanced."
"If you have any needs, you can tell me too, and I'll see if I can help."
"Oh right, my name is Uchiha Iori. Just call me Iori. What should I call you?"
Although Warhammer 40k was a space opera-style world, it was, after all, an ultra-futuristic one.
Genetic technology went without saying—the appearance of Primaris Space Marines proved everything—and data related to agricultural machinery would certainly bring huge help to Iori's cause.
After all, the Naruto world was strictly no different from an ancient agricultural society.
Although by the time Naruto reached adulthood, there were already computers, the technological development was completely lopsided.
"Are you Japanese?" the three asked in unison.
"No, I'm Chinese. I just transmigrated into the Naruto world. Before I can go back, I don't really want to reminisce about the past."
Iori waved his hand, a look of pain appearing on his face.
"Understood. I was Chinese in my past life, and these two were as well." The Space Marine nodded, a flash of resonance in his eyes.
"My name is Jonathan Joestar now. Just call me Jojo. The data on agriculture and primitive machinery shouldn't be a problem, but genetic technology is mainly held by the Adeptus Mechanicus."
"What are your specific requirements? Let's see if we can come up with a corresponding plan."
There was no need to say more; Jojo and the others understood the reason.
Because they had all abandoned their past names as well.
Uchiha Iori pondered for a moment and said, "I don't know if you've seen Naruto. The Sage bloodline within it is split into several parts. I hope to complete my genetics and return to the original source."
Originally, he had pinned his hopes on Orochimaru or Hiruko, but now a more reliable path lay before him.
"I'll transmit the memories to you. Each genetic fusion takes about three years of buffering time."
"You don't need to help with anything. If you really care, just come to the Warhammer universe to help out if you ever have enough strength one day."
Jojo transmitted the relevant memories to Uchiha Iori. To him, this was a small favor, a way to build a connection.
"Then what should the two of you be called, and which worlds did you transmigrate to?" Uchiha Iori sat down and asked, turning his gaze to the other two.
"Bai Wenyao, the Sea Tiger world. Not the one from the Bai family," the man in the tank top said painfully.
"Julian Carlos, the Lovecraftian world, or rather, the Cthulhu world," the European gentleman said with some despair.
Iori gasped. Good heavens, the guys in this group all had terrible luck. What kind of hellish worlds were these?
The four began to chat. Everyone was dissatisfied with their own situation; by comparison, Uchiha Iori could be considered the luckiest.
At the very least, his world was relatively normal, and he now had a clear plan and a blueprint for the future.
After some idle chatter, Iori was the first to take his leave.
He had originally come to make the acquaintance of Heroic Spirits, only to end up meeting a fellow transmigrator instead.
Since it was difficult for them to meet in their respective universes, there was no conflict of interest; instead, he had received a gift.
"Yo, you're finally back. Finished chatting with your compatriots?"
Cú Chulainn raised his glass and said with a smile.
"They didn't seem to adapt well to our gathering, so they headed over to the other side."
"We're done. Jojo helped me out a lot."
Uchiha Iori pointed toward the others and said, "Could you help introduce them to me?"
There were seven Heroic Spirits at the gathering in total. Aside from Cú Chulainn, Diarmuid, and Emiya Shirou, Uchiha Iori had yet to identify the others.
"Sure."
Cú Chulainn then pointed to a man dressed in the style of the Japanese Edo period and said, "This is a swordsman who shares your name, Miyamoto Iori."
Miyamoto Iori's expression remained calm as he nodded in greeting.
He then pointed to the youth (or maiden) beside Miyamoto Iori and said, "This is Miyamoto Iori's close friend, Yamato Takeru."
Yamato Takeru was busy eating; he looked up to offer a greeting before returning to his meal, saying between bites, "The white rice here is truly delicious—even better than what they have at Iori's place."
Cú Chulainn then pointed to a man and a woman on the other side.
"He is the hero from Northern Europe, Siegfried, and beside him is the princess from Greece, Medea."
The white-haired man raised his glass, signaling to Uchiha Iori.
The purple-haired girl also smiled innocently and greeted Uchiha Iori.
"My name is Uchiha Iori. It is a pleasure to meet you all."
Uchiha Iori smiled and joined their ranks.
The banquet continued, and once everyone had their fill of food and drink, they departed one by one, leaving Emiya Shirou and Uchiha Iori as the last ones remaining.
"How come you didn't ask to copy any Noble Phantasms this time?" Emiya Shirou asked curiously.
"I'm not about to be such a buzzkill. There's plenty of time ahead, isn't there?"
Although Uchiha Iori was envious, he wasn't so lacking in social awareness.
While the Heroic Spirits attending the banquet were all easygoing types, if a reputation for being a killjoy were to spread, he likely wouldn't be invited to future gatherings.
"I'm heading back too. See you next time." Emiya Shirou transmitted the method for using Rho Aias to Uchiha Iori before taking his leave.
With the data of the Noble Phantasm firmly memorized, Uchiha Iori returned to the Ninja World, prepared to face the impending assault from the Iwagakure Ninja.
