Hagrid was friendly enough to the Gryffindors, but not to the Slytherins. He didn't show Malfoy the slightest courtesy, and with Breeze there, Malfoy simply ignored Hagrid's instructions.
Hagrid snapped, "You have to split up. Mr. Order is here to look for a plant, unlike you, who's serving detention."
Fang barked furiously at Malfoy, who was standing close to Breeze, but Malfoy didn't seem bothered. If anything, he looked ready to kick Fang.
Fang took one look at Malfoy's expression and wisely tucked his tail between his legs and ran behind Hagrid. Then he immediately started barking again.
The noise gave Breeze a headache. He was here to find Trance Grass, not watch a show.
"Fine. Malfoy and I will go together. I can find the place."
Breeze looked at Hagrid and said, "You can go with Hermione and the others. You know what I can do. I doubt anything on the way could stop the power of a tree levitated into the air."
Hagrid had been about to refuse, but then he remembered how Breeze had effortlessly lifted a huge pine tree. After thinking it over, he said, "All right. Maybe you can take Fang with you. If you can't find the place, he can lead you back to me."
"Sure. One extra dog won't be a problem."
Breeze waved to Hermione, then led Malfoy and Fang down the familiar path where he'd made his discovery before.
Hagrid turned to Harry, Hermione, and Neville and said, "Your detention is to come with me and look for the injured Unicorn. I found another one a few days ago, but it's still alive. There's blood along the way. It's trying to escape from something..."
