Leaving the Magic Web was like a person with severe myopia and astigmatism taking off their glasses, like an internet-addicted teenager entering the deep mountains. Landen lost more than half his perception all at once. Even those few dozen minutes of high-tier sensation were enough for him to savor endlessly—he was just short of grinning like a fool. Right now, Landen especially wished Tania could stay by his side forever, letting him enter the Magic Web whenever he wanted.
But that was the sort of thing one could only think about. After recovering a little, Landen began explaining his ideas to Ben Kaul and Alexei. "Actually, before designing these buildings, I had a conjecture about magic elements: that different elements are the same in terms of magic or energy, and that different elements can be converted into one another."
More precisely, Landen believed that different magic elements were like different colors of light. The most minute photons were completely identical, but on a macroscopic level, different wavelengths produced different colors. And the arrays atop the many towers were like polarizing filters, screening out light of specific wavelengths.
Landen did not dare be sure whether the Tower of Purity understood photons in the same way as his homeland had, so he could only use all sorts of comparisons and explanations, doing his best to make it vivid.
"Your idea is very close to the New Element School, but it's also a bit like the Superstring School." Ben nodded.
The so-called New Element School referred to the belief that the composition of magic elements was fundamentally consistent, and that it was merely the different microscopic manifestations of the same elements that led to different macroscopic properties. This faction had always devoted itself to studying the causes behind those macroscopic differences among elements.
