The Role of an Archmage

In Landen's dream, inside the waiting hall of the Train Station, a middle-aged man moved like a ghost. First he watched Landen enter the Broadcast Room, then followed Lily and Fanil, watching the two girls enter a peculiar room, operate some interesting equipment, and finally obtain twenty egg tarts, fifteen pieces of fried chicken, and five boxes of fries.

"Didn't you eat quite well at dinner? Why are you still like a starving ghost in a dream?" Lily's father was somewhat displeased with his daughter's behavior. "If you have the time for this, you would be better off persuading the Saint on how to welcome His Majesty Heride back. That would be the proper path."

The first time he entered the Train Station, he had not believed this place was the Divine Kingdom. He had even thought it was a false image fabricated by two gods, until the second time, when he personally watched Landen transform one enormous deity into two small beasts, and even take the initiative to feed the two gods and carry them while darting all over the place. He simply could not imagine, once they returned to the real world, what sort of divine oracle the two Beast Gods would have to issue in order to avenge such a great humiliation.

But nothing happened the next day. Landen even achieved successive Breakthroughs within a single month, and had now reached High-Rank. To him, there could only be one conclusion: Landen was a Retainer or Saint of an Ancient God, and it was the Ancient God who had protected this Gallop Descendant.

Yet this was also what he was most dissatisfied with about Landen: as a Retainer, Landen had no gratitude at all toward the Ancient God. Every day, all he thought about was territorial construction.
