As a knight of common birth from the Iron Mine, Wufi's equipment was not particularly good. She did not even have a decent set of Magic Pattern Armor, only a Magic Pattern Sword, and even that had been uniformly issued by the academy to students going out on patrol.

By comparison, Frederick wore leather over Iron Armor, with a cloak over the armor. His full set of gear, not counting magic patterns, cost more than 300 Gold Coins. The magic patterns on it had been drawn for him by several Mage Apprentices whom his younger sister, Britt Lanyuan, had invited to help. After all, Britt could get cheaper magic ink, which benefited everyone.

"Wufi? Are you really not considering becoming a Priest or a mage?" Frederick asked his companion. "A knight is, after all, a profession that charges at the very front. Once your level rises in the future, it will be somewhat inconvenient for you."

Wufi shook her head. "I only wish to become My Lord's sword and shield. I have no other thoughts."

"Who's there?" the boy shouted, then urged his horse forward with Wufi.

The movement had come from an uninhabited block. The two knights nudged their Black-Scaled Horses, and in a few leaps they cleared the low wall. After landing, they saw the figures of three Beastmen.

The one in the lead was a Hyenaman, powerfully built, with an obvious mane on his back, and his height was no lower than the two people on horseback. The other two were a Pigman and a Ratman.

After they had been chased for a while, the Ratman grew somewhat tired and shouted, "It's just two stinking knights!
