At nine o'clock on September 9th, imperial capital time, Landen arrived at Jingji Tower as agreed with twenty subordinates.
Originally, Landen had come at this hour because he wanted to cadge breakfast in the Hall of Thousand Towers. After all, in Night-Kirin City, it was only just before eight in the morning. Yet when he entered the Hall of Thousand Towers, more than a hundred archmages were already waiting with six or seven hundred children.
Looking at the children filling every hollow and valley, Landen felt his head swell. He had originally thought the Imperial Capital School would at most send over four hundred children, right up against the limit. After all, tuition of twenty gold coins a month was very expensive, but he had underestimated the enthusiasm of archmage families for quality resources.
Landen divided his subordinates into several groups, but those subordinates soon discovered that there was not much work for them to do.
The mentors present had brought their own house servants and attendants to help maintain order and register names. In fact, before he had even arrived, the mentors had already arranged numbers in order of arrival and filled out forms in advance. All they were waiting for was for his subordinates to bring out the equipment, and then the children could be tested in sequence.
Saffron Helen, who had led Landen here on Tuesday, walked over with a smile. "Well? Have you felt the enthusiasm of the imperial capital's high ranks?"
"Yes, everyone certainly is enthusiastic enough," Landen said with a nod. Yet after watching for a while, he found that at least sixty percent of the children being tested could reach the level of eight spheres. In other words, once those children went to Night-Kirin City, they were almost certain to awaken their bloodlines.
