"Landen? Wake up," a voice echoed in Landen's ear on the morning of the 11th. "Come on, wake up. Let's go for a ride. I want to spar with Totapara!"
"Hm?" Landen opened his eyes groggily. A horse's face was right in front of him, a gleaming horn growing from its forehead. On closer inspection, though, the horn looked more like a super-sized Magic Crystal.
"Blaze? Is that you?" Landen wasn't sure if he was awake. He'd slept in the stable the night before, keeping watch over two enormous cocoons. All night, he'd dreamed that both horses had advanced to High-level Magic Beasts and were traveling the world with him.
"That's right. Blaze has advanced. Hurry up and get up!"
Yavenni stood nearby, looking rather disdainful. She hadn't gone back to Night-Kirin City the night before. An Elf's intuition told her Blaze would break through in the next couple of days, and she didn't want to miss it.
"Really?" Landen wrapped both arms around Blaze's neck. "That's wonderful! You finally made it!"
Having emerged from her cocoon, Blaze was taller and more elegant, with Magic Pattern scales covering her entire body. Her four hooves and back were covered in mane. Besides the Magic Crystal horn on her forehead, two long whiskers hung beside her mouth. From a distance, she looked more like a black qilin with a single horn.
As Landen hugged her, the mane on Blaze's body lit up like flames, and clouds of fire instantly covered her previously slender legs.
Blaze was thoroughly enjoying Landen's embrace. Black Rabbit was stuck inside a rock nearby, unable to speak, while Totapara hid behind a door in the distance, watching her with frightened little eyes. Everything was wonderful.
