On the shore of an icy lake in Frost-Wolf Forest, the white giant wolf Totapara climbed out of Wolf Priest Panita's arms. The magic patterns on her fur kept changing, showing far more variation than those of any other Magic Beast.
"See? I can adjust my magic patterns," Totapara said as they shifted. "So now I'm a real Magic Wolf!"
"Can those magic patterns of yours generate heat?" Blaze asked casually. With all four Magic Beasts together every day, Totapara had grown increasingly fond of sticking close to her and the Magic Pattern Tiger, rubbing against the Fire School patterns on their bodies.
At Blaze's question, Totapara answered matter-of-factly, "Of course not. You and the tiger are right beside me. Why would I need heat-generating patterns?"
"Hmph!"
Blaze rarely showed such disdain.
Landen stood beside the two Magic Beasts, smiling without a word, but he was also marveling at Totapara's talent. Although Blaze had entered the breakthrough stage before her, the Black-Scaled Horse had taken about a week to advance to High-Rank, while the Frost-Wolf had needed just one night. The first thing the Frost-Wolf did after advancing was discuss her benefits with Landen.
"Also, I think I'm qualified to teach at Gallop Academy. I could at least teach people how to raise Magic Beasts, right?"
