Landen hadn't expected someone to hear about Yawenni's morning trip to the Imperial Capital to claim credit by that very evening. He nodded and replied through the Magic Web, "It happened. We ran into a Beastmen tribe while scouting westward. She did kill most of them, but that tribe didn't have a Beast God's Favored."

Safrun immediately perked up. He asked through the Magic Web in the same way, "Any more chances like that? I'd like to go kill a Beastmen tribe too."

"Huh?"

"I'm serious. To get promoted in the Imperial Capital Knights, you have to meet certain martial requirements. Yawenni was suddenly commended by the commander this morning and promoted to a first-rank court Viscount. That's practically unheard of in hundreds of years." After Safrun explained, Landen more or less understood why Yawenni was so eager to clock in on the front lines.

Although the Imperial Capital Knights were an established military unit, their promotion requirements were extremely strict. What's more, they had a dual-track system: rank and position. Position determined how many people you managed, while rank determined your benefits.

Promotions in position were tied only to level. Once someone reached High-Rank, they would join a division as a captain, deputy captain, or other manager. For example, Yawenni was already a Golden Knight and had served as a division commander in the Sky Knight Order for decades.

Rank, however, was tied only to honors. You had to fight bravely and earn enough merit to convince others before you could advance. The higher you climbed, the stricter the requirements became. You had to fight foreign enemies; putting down internal rebellions or arresting bandits
