Seeing the Big Cat pounce at him from several hundred meters away, Landen hadn't taken it too seriously at first. The Magic Web Sword in his right hand flashed, and more than a dozen spells of various kinds shot out, hurtling toward the Retainer.
Purple-red fireballs landed in front of the Big Cat, but it didn't even try to block them. It charged straight through, letting them hit it squarely on the forehead.
The fireballs made only a few soft pops and crackles against the Retainer's fur before quickly going out.
Lightning, Wind Blades, ice shards—a series of fierce magical attacks struck the Magic Beast God Avatar's pelt like pebbles dropping into an abyss. They made a sound, but had no visible effect.
"Yoww—roar, roar!" The Avatar's growl grew angrier. Its limbs ran through empty air as it charged at Landen like a cannonball.
From within the Magic Web, the Retainer seemed completely engulfed by a vast quantity of magical elements. Behind it, a pair of feline eyes stared fixedly at its target.
"Clang!" The Magic Web Sword met the Avatar's Claw. The tremendous collision sent Landen flying backward, and wave after wave of force rippled through the Magic Web itself.
Dazed by the impact, Landen saw the Big Cat's other Claw coming at him. He twisted away just in time, then used the movement to thrust his sword at the Retainer's foreleg.
The Magic Web Sword sank into the Retainer's fur as if it were entering a pool of thick liquid. The moment it met even a little resistance, the Avatar swiftly pulled back its paw.
The man and the Big Cat collided, then separated in an instant, each falling toward the lower ground on the opposite side.
With the Beastmen camp directly below, Landen immediately summoned Wind
