Complaints from the Iron Mine
On the afternoon of January 2nd, the small town at the Iron Mine was completely buried under snow. Most of its population rested in the mountain caverns of the mine, while only a small number of knights and Dwarves lived in the castle beside the mine and the surrounding houses.
When Landen arrived at the Iron Mine riding Blaze, he was rather dissatisfied with the living conditions. Yet once he gathered the mine's supervisors for a meeting, they began voicing their own complaints as well.
"Your Majesty, there are too many people in the Iron Mine now. When Lannia left, the entire mine had only a few thousand people, but now there are nearly twenty thousand. And they still haven't all been settled—tens of thousands more are waiting near West 7 Castle."
As soon as the meeting began, the Dwarf Alozag, who had remained at the Iron Mine all along, started complaining.
"Right now, the five or six Post Stations around West 7 are all having an extremely hard time. In winter, the Gallop River has frozen solid, so ships can no longer travel. The merchant caravans have all returned to the cities for the New Year as well. Supplies for these Post Stations can only be delivered by people riding Black-Scaled Horses around with Space Rings full of food. Even so, the stored grain will only last a few more days."
Landen sat before the conference table, his expression grave as he listened to the Dwarf finish.
