"Landen, forgive my frankness, but although this underwater Magic Furnace can just barely run, it seems its only use is heating the lake water. It doesn't appear to do much else."
In the observation room, Dragon Girl peered through the window in the wall at the ammonite shell inside the underwater Magic Furnace Room. Its dazzling, mysterious glow was certainly eye-catching, but it could not conceal the limitations of its function.
The Magic Furnace had evolved over tens of thousands of years, from its rudimentary form during the era of the Divine Descendants to its full development in the Goblin era. Alongside the furnace itself, there were peripheral facilities such as the Magic Furnace Room, control room, and Communication Room. More importantly, people had to find ways to use the magic power the furnace produced.
Just as cars and airplanes relied on internal combustion engines, and electric trains and appliances relied on electrical systems, the Goblin Civilization had built an entire system of Magic Arrays around high-concentration flows of magic. The Human Race and Elves had then developed their own systems of worship, Arcane magic, and ritual based on that foundation. These established applications were what gave the Magic Furnaces Landen built a purpose.
Yet the Goblins had never turned their attention underwater, while the Sea God's faction had simply gone its own way, building a self-sustaining cycle with Mermaids, Sea Monsters, and magical algae.
Gleia had noticed this and reminded Landen, "The Magic Arrays you've set up here all operate on the rock walls. They could run even without this spiral shell."
"That's right. Most of the Magic Arrays in the lake really do get their magic power from the land-based Magic Furnace." Landen gazed through the window at the room where red and blue lights mingled. "I'm thinking
