The People Need Their Master
A huge, oval-shaped mahogany round table was surrounded by more than a dozen former Korhal senators. They were basically all elders over the age of fifty, and anyone in their thirties could be considered a young person standing between them.
Most of the MPs are very simple. They neither wear crimson robes with gold rims nor carry canes that symbolize noble status, but they still use words like nobility. Some people wear round glasses, but their laser-corrected eyesight is still very good.
Where the Senate of Korhal was established, the members there were the colonial squires and the leaders of the colonial spaceships. For more than a hundred years, the Senate has never been a place where civilians could talk loudly.
Angus doesn't like these people, but no matter what the purpose, these people have supported him in the parliament. Facts have also proved that these people really think about Korhal IV.
Although in the few years they served as senators, the wealth and power of these people expanded exponentially.
The election of new members is still in the counting stage, so Angus can only discuss with these members the establishment of a constitution and the appointment of a new government.
Fortunately, the advantage of having a small number of people is that new laws and proposals are passed much faster, and Angus will not have to spend a lot of time listening to those well-fed and idle members of Congress arguing for four or five days about whether a change in a law violates the Terran Confederacy constitution.
But for Angus, who has been in the political circles for many years, this does not give him the sense of accomplishment of fighting with the crowd. When only a dozen or so people are watching him, Angus will feel restless due to the lack of attention.
It was as if Angus couldn't sleep once he was far away from the center of politics. He simply couldn't imagine it.
In just one morning, the new Senate passed thirteen bills related to increasing government intervention in the economy, as well as the Global Industrial Recovery Act. At the same time, new heavy factories were being built everywhere on Korhal. Funds and technology came from several Tarsonis creation families and Umoyan people who secretly cooperated with the Mengsk family. More than two million Korhal people who were unemployed due to the war entered the factories to work.
Because it is located in the main star world that belongs to the core area of Terran Confederacy, coupled with economic prosperity, Korhal is operating at full speed under the leadership of a unified and efficient government.
But the disadvantage of Korhal IV is also obvious. Compared with other Edge World who are undergoing uprisings, they are too close to Tarsonis and too conspicuous.
"We will eliminate all slums before the year 2499, so that there will no longer be people who have enough to eat in this world!" At this time, Angus impassionedly threw out another of his heavy promises, while someone nearby recorded what he said on paper using shorthand using non-technological means.
As soon as he finished speaking, Palatine Assembly Hall's front hall door was opened. Angus and the councilors all looked at Augustus who was wearing a dark gray general's uniform and a wide-brimmed military cap with a golden fringe. The councilors were already very familiar with this Korhal eagle that made his father extremely proud. Compared to this, they were much more interested in the former Ghost operative Sarah·Kerrigan who followed him closely behind him.
"Augustus, what's going on? You look a little anxious." Angus cleared his throat and said to his son.
"Do you still have time to play with them in meetings Game? Now we don't need a parliament, we can just announce decrees." Augustus said, "Now is a time of war, Korhal even only needs one person who can tell the truth."
"Korhal's people need their master, and the Parliament must wear its shackles."
"Don't write this down, and don't say this to anyone." Angus looked serious, and his cold gray eyes scanned everyone present, like an old wolf with a fierce flash of light.
Augustus has never admitted that he is a Revolutionary Army who fights for the people. In Angus's view, the only reason why he is willing to lead Korhal Revolutionary Army is just to protect his mother Katherine and sister Dorothy.
There was no council member present who was angry about Augustus's rude remarks. They survived this change of power while still retaining their past status, not because they were more capable, but because they were on the right team.
In the days after the Korhal War of Independence, all corrupt officials in Korhal were tried one by one by Augustus's revolutionary army. They sat in prison cars and cried loudly until they were shot by the Stillling River.
For three days, the red river flowed down the river like a river of blood.
The congressmen know what role they should play, because Augustus is the real wolf of the Mengsk family. He lacks the most basic respect for the nobles and officials, and slaughters them like cattle and sheep.
"You just hosted August National Security Committee's meeting. I hope that spy agency can play a role." Angus said.
"You are very impatient." He said, "Did you also get the news that the Antiga Prime uprising failed?"
"I just learned about it." Augustus said, "No one thought that there is a Confederacy Fleets in the galaxy 4 light years away from the Antiga galaxy. The information sent back to us by the uprising organizers showed that it is the Gamma Squadron of Confederacy Fleets."
"Gamma Squadron leveled Fort Ansu with a nuclear bomb. Two hundred thousand people were reduced to ashes. More people were severely burned. Radiation permanently damaged the local environment. Mutated creatures appeared one after another like evil ghosts." He continued.
"An unknown plague broke out in Ayanui's Pride, and the resistance there suffered heavy losses due to excessive non-combat attrition."
"What a misfortune. This is the third failed uprising of the Antiga people." Angus frowned. "But Pridewater what happened?"
"There is no direct evidence that it was a type of viral weapon, but the timing of the outbreak was too coincidental." Augustus said, "All the news media suppressed this matter, and the lack of authenticity reports misled the people on other planets in Confederacy."
"Compared with them, Korhal who are closer to the core world are luckier. Most of Confederacy Fleets still stay in Edge World, which increases the bargaining chips for the Confederacy government to negotiate with Kel-Morian Combine."
"But they have been talking for three months." Angus asked as if talking to himself.
"Kel-Morian Combine has been stalling for time to transfer their assets, but how long can Kel-Morian Combine persist?"
"We have to prepare for the worst." Augustus sighed, "The newly established agency is training spies, but at present we mainly rely on Umojan's spies. These people will use various means to obtain the support of Confederacy senior officials and Old Families."
"At the same time, our Fleets has begun to take shape. At my request, Umojan used a lot of resources to repair Hyperion. It is expected that I will be able to see a 'brand new' battlecruiser in half a month."
"During this period, in addition to building Korhal defenses to prepare the army and people for a protracted war, I also plan to immediately lead Fleets to raid a base named Victor V in Confederacy. The captured Ghost operative told me that there are twenty Ghost operative stationed there."
"Intelligence shows that there may be design drawings of new weapons in the computers there."
"Okay." Angus said, "You have much more say than me in leading troops to fight."
"."
"I still have a question." After a long silence, Angus suddenly looked at Sarah Kerrigan behind Augustus.
"Son, you must let this Confederacy assassin who killed my double with one knife act as your personal bodyguard?"
"I think she is quite outstanding." Augustus thought about it seriously and said, "And I don't have any psychological burden because she wanted to assassinate you."
"No, I'm just worried about your safety." Mengsk Family's old wolf was a little sad, but he was used to it.
