Hammer Security Company
The mercenary market in Jacob City is located in the lower level of the city's vertical building complex, far from the bustling city center and commercial buildings, nestled between dark buildings and industrial buildings consisting of metal transport pipes and chimneys.
The mercenary market is located inside a huge commercial plaza. Most mercenary companies have their small, remote headquarters right next to shops selling cheap industrial products. Even the large mercenary organizations don't spend extra money to rent an entire floor as their headquarters; instead, they choose to spend more money on training bases.
The mercenary market in Jacob City was far quieter Augustus had imagined; it was deserted. Even the shops with neon signs were filled with lower-class residents shopping.
Augustus was on the first floor of the commercial plaza, a massive building that covered an area equivalent to one hundred football fields. The ground floor was the commercial area, while the upper floors housed offices and sports facilities.
The first floor of the commercial plaza featured a soaring dome and grid-like shops. Augustus wandered among the stores, searching for mercenary groups mingling within. Augustus noticed that in Moria's commercial center, products such as industrially synthesized foods, desalinated seawater, and plastic goods were much cheaper than in Tarsonis.
Moria's food factories produce enough synthetic food to feed the planet's four billion inhabitants. A Moria can support a family of five by working a day on the factory production line or at the starport's unloading dock. Yet, even so, tens of thousands still starve to death.
The decline of the mercenary market in Kel-Morian is not unrelated to the end of the Guild Wars. The Kel-Morian Combine lost control of most of its colonies and mining worlds. Its sphere of influence shrank significantly, and since the trade routes to and from Moria and its affiliated colonies ceased to exist, there were far fewer mercenary jobs available.
Many mercenaries switched to space pirates during this period, planning to return to Moria when the market improved.
However, in Kel-Morian Combine that controls the vast majority of the population through guild enterprises and trade Fleets, the powerful and influential are not only willing to form a private security force but also very willing to hire a well-trained mercenary army.
"The Hammer Security Company of the Kel-Morian Combine is the largest mercenary organization here, and the Hill and Harris Company of Umojan also have permanent offices here," Kerrigan had already conducted her research, reported to Augustus as he wandered through the deserted mercenary market.
"After the Guild Wars, the various legions of the former Kel-Morian disintegrated and formed various mercenary or pirate organizations. For example, several Hellhound fighter squadrons from the Kel-Morian Combine formed the Cerberus Security Company to provide escort for interstellar trade convoys, while another branch, the Hell's Angels, which was suspected to be composed of Hellhound squadrons, became a pirate organization."
"They have dismembered their legions, and the Guild Guards who once fought for honor have been abandoned by the Kel-Morian Combine they once served. For the next twenty years, the Kel-Morian Combine will have no chance of rising again." Augustus coldly uttered these words and walked into the depths of the mercenary market with his hands behind his back.
After arriving in Moria and meeting various high-ranking and elite Kel-Morian Combine, Augustus grew increasingly disappointed. The Kel-Morian Combine had instigated a war with the Terran Confederacy, and in the early stages of the war, they held a significant advantage, with the Kel-Morian Combine Fleets blockading the borders of the Terran Confederacy and the battle lines advancing to one-third of the Koprulu Sector.
The Guild Guards of the Kel-Morian Combine are known as the most indestructible warriors, and their numerous invincible legions, composed of various guilds and families, have destroyed one Confederacy world after another.
Today, that powerful Kel-Morian Combine is a thing of the past, and its rulers no longer have the courage to fight the Confederacy head-on.
Since the territory of the Kel-Morian Combine was compressed into Moria and several other star systems recently, the Kel-Morian people have lost the right to rival the Confederacy and have even shown a tendency to become its vassals.
Aside from weapons and their fully operational factories, the Kel-Morian Combine is unlikely to provide Augustus any further support.
"Hammer Security Company is the best option right now. Their staff are highly experienced and trustworthy. After the end of the Guild Wars, the company also took in many retired Guild Guards and veterans of the Kel-Morian Auxiliary Forces," Kerrigan said.
"It can only be them." Along the way Augustus had seen many small and medium-sized mercenary organizations, but small mercenaries generally only had one or two combat squads of less than ten people, and medium-sized organizations did not have many people exceeding one hundred.
Mercenaries are often elites, and their numbers are not large. Only those who have been through countless battles and are lucky enough to survive to this day. Compared to the mass-produced Power Armor of regular armies, they generally add more reliable components and specialized weapons to their Power Armor to cope with the complex space environment and the various enemies they encounter on their adventures.
"Hill's mercenary company headquarters is in Umojan, which is too far away to solve our immediate needs." Augustus, leading Kerrigan and his mercenaries through the mercenary market, shook his head repeatedly before finally heading straight for the headquarters of Iron Hammer Security.
"We need to get back to the Fleets before 11 PM today. The last batch of Kel-Morian Type I Armed Heavy Vehicle (modified from bulldozers) and railguns, as well as the latest advanced detection helmets and goggles, must be in place to deal with those invisible enemies."
Augustus still worried about the attacked colony Fleets. If the attackers were the Tal'darim, they would have no mercy for humanity.
The Tal'darim's attacks on humans could be because the humans happened to come to their homeworld, or it could simply be a hunting Game aimed at providing them with the thrill of the hunt.
As one of the top mercenary organizations in the Kel-Morian Combine, Hammer Security Company occupies half a floor of this huge commercial plaza.
The company's headquarters was mostly staffed by internal personnel and mercenaries returning from missions. Augustus's appearance immediately caught the attention of a manager at Hammer Security Company.
"Hello, this is Otmar, the manager here." A tall, middle-aged man greeted Augustus, recognizing the Revolutionary Army in just a few seconds.
"If we are not mistaken, you must be Marshal Augustus Mengsk of the Revolutionary Army," he said, shaking hands with Augustus.
"During the Four Year War, I also served as a member of the Guild Guards in Turaxis II. When the Heaven's Devils descended from the sky from the Detention Center 34, which held Confederacy prisoners of war, my Snakehead Squad and I happened to be on a mission nearby. But because you evacuated so quickly, my men didn't make it in time," the former Guild Guards lamented.
"But I often think that if I had happened to arrive, maybe I and my men would have added another achievement to your record, dying in Turaxis II."
"Misfortune and fortune are intertwined, Mr. Otmar." Augustus shook hands with him.
"I need an elite Iron Hammer security force, approximately... approximately several thousand men—tentative."
