A Little Support from the Protoss
Krusas Central Airport.
From the airport docks to the control hall, the area was packed with the Revolutionary Army Fleets soldiers preparing to board shuttles to their assigned starships. They belonged to the Warfield Fleets Marines and had served for over five years in numerous campaigns aimed at fighting the Zerg and protecting the colonies during the First Total War.
The Revolutionary Army Marine Corps was the elite combat force within the revolutionary ranks. They were composed of robust young men and women of Teren age, dressed in black and blue collared coats, long trousers, and low-top caps with anchor insignia, along with silver-white military badges symbolizing the Silver Tower of Korhal.
Underneath the uniforms of ordinary soldiers is a classic blue and white sailor shirt, which can also be used as everyday wear. As for pilots, they wear a different set of standard combat uniforms for outer space environments.
In earlier years, the Revolutionary Army consisted mostly of Korhal soldiers, but now the revolutionary forces are comprised of fighters from all over the Terran Confederacy, including foreign soldiers such as Kel-Morian and Umojans.
Especially within the Kel-Morian Combine, the bitter fruits of the Guild Wars continue to torment the inhabitants of the Kel-Morian Combine. The trust-like KMC guild corporations are becoming increasingly greedy and brutal, relentlessly exploiting and ravaging their mining planets.
Economic depression and social unrest have led more and more men in Kel-Morian to choose to become pirates and mercenaries. In addition, Korhal Revolutionary Army is also a good option, as the Revolutionary Army Marshal's tolerance towards other ethnic groups has always been well known.
When Augustus made a special trip to inspect the airport, battalions of the Revolutionary Army were lined up in front of the large shuttles docked at the airport pier. The black and blue uniforms of the Revolutionary Army soldiers created a rather spectacular sight. As the soldiers, lined up in neat columns, began to board the planes, Augustus immediately saw a scene like surging waves.
"All Fleets are ready for battle." Admiral Horace Warfield stood beside Augustus, next to the asphalt runway of the Krusas Air Port.
"The logistics department is carrying out final supply transport and scheduling work; they haven't let my men down lately. The Fleets is ready to set sail at any moment, awaiting only orders."
A large APOD series transport ship moored a thousand yards away confirmed Warfield's words, with trucks loaded with barrels of refined high-energy gas fuel speeding past.
These sealed, green hydrocarbons are the standard high-energy fuel for many engines and reactors. Centuries ago, it was this fuel that propelled early humans on Earth to continuously explore the Solar System and beyond.
The cargo holds of the other transport ships were filled with boxes and boxes of ammunition, including various types of railguns, anti-aircraft guns and 180mm cannon shells, with each Hellfire missile costing as much as 15,000 Confederacy credits.
The ammunition came from many sources, including those from the Confederacy Armory and those made by the people in the Revolutionary Army's territories. The bullets used by the soldiers might have come from their parents or siblings who were working in the factories.
The Armored Vehicle, Arclite Siege Tank, and Diamondback chained to the cargo hold were the result of the tireless work of thousands of skilled workers and technical experts in the Revolutionary Army's territories. Companies that had previously produced weapons and warships for the Terran Confederacy Army also began to accept large-scale orders from the Revolutionary Army, such as the renowned Wolf Industries and Bulraifeng Heavy Industries.
The entire airport was incredibly busy, with airport staff sweating profusely and soldiers fully equipped and ready to go everywhere. Golden and red Revolutionary Army flags fluttered in the wind, and soldiers clenched their fists in salute to the red flag and the midday sun.
This scene deeply impressed General Gregory Rexon, the former commander of the Confederacy Omega Squadron who had accompanied Augustus on the inspection, and he sincerely exclaimed, "What a disciplined, brave, and fearless army!"
Admittedly, no matter how well Gregory assessed his opponents, he could not have imagined that the Revolutionary Army would be so large and that the quality of its soldiers so high—something that Confederacy government officers, who had always looked down on the rebels, could hardly comprehend.
The Revolutionary Army is more like an army forged in the fires of war. More often than not, they face enemies far more terrifying than the Confederacy forces. No one would question the warriors who confront the Zerg and Protoss head-on.
"Boss, I heard you were coming here and I rushed over right away. You must be here to see me." At this moment, an officer wearing a wide-brimmed felt hat and a khaki army uniform walked towards Augustus with a burly guard. His shocking scars on his face and his bright red hair always left a deep impression.
Since acquiring these scars in the war against the Zerg, Harnack has no intention of removing them with laser surgery.
Harnack's troops were not part of the Marine Corps. He was the commander of the 76th Red Devils Assault Division, which had 25,000 soldiers, mainly composed of Firebat wearing heavy Power Armor. They were also equipped with Vulture Motorcycle and flamethrower tanks.
The Red Devils Flamethrower Tank is mainly modified from the chassis of the Kel-Morian Tank. Its scorching plasma stream has a range of up to 1,000 meters, and its engine is modified from the KMC Sloth heavy bulldozer, producing astonishing horsepower.
The tank was primarily designed by the Revolutionary Army Ordnance Design Bureau and mass-produced by the Antiga Ansadar Heavy Industries. It was mainly used to deal with enemies in Bunker and trenches.
Of course, its primary use is to deal with Zergling of Swarm on the battlefield. Its armor is strong enough to withstand the Zergling ' deadly spikes, and its scorching plasma stream can burn most Zerg to ashes.
"I had no idea you were here." Augustus smiled, a rare sight, upon seeing Harnack.
Harnack's forces were about to board a transport ship bound for the Hercules-class troop transport docked in orbit around Krusas, preparing to board the Xel'Naga transport ship Eldritch to carry out a military mission on Ares.
Recently, many Confederacy colonies, trembling under the onslaught of the United Earth Directorate Expeditionary Fleet, have begun to request the protection of the Revolutionary Army. Augustus dispatch troops to take over these planets as appropriate.
This further illustrates that after the fall of Tarsonis, the Terran Confederacy suffered an unprecedented blow, with Confederacy Fleets in complete disarray, and thus it completely lost control of its Confederacy colonies.
"You must be the renowned General Gregory, I've heard so much about you." Harnack rarely spoke politely when he saw the commander of the Omega Squadron. But those who knew him well knew that when he was being polite, he was absolutely mocking you.
"Colonel Harnack, I have heard of your reputation. The Confederate High Command once issued a document stating that one must be extremely cautious when encountering any of the rebel generals listed there, and you are at the top of the list." Gregory shook hands with Harnack.
"Oh, is that really true? Haha~ I knew those Confederacy brats would be terrified and wet themselves at the mere mention of my name." Harnack was overjoyed, his face turning bright red.
"This guy." Augustus shook his head. Harnack probably didn't know that the other party was just flattering him. Maybe the other party was even thinking to himself that this kid was really easy to fool.
However, Harnack was indeed somewhat famous. His Firebat units always played the role of raiders, and they also liked to use captured Confederacy communication equipment to mock the Confederacy Command as useless after the war, so they naturally had some notoriety.
"General Gregory's troops are now also part of the Revolutionary Army's operational order, so you will be comrades-in-arms from now on," Augustus.
"I'm glad to be able to fight alongside a commander like you." Despite saying this, Gregory's face was completely devoid of a smile, as if he was born unable to smile, but his words were not false.
Although Gregory is amiable in his personal life, even resembling the kind of old man from Tarsonis who enjoys walking his dog on the streets, he is an absolute ruthless commander in battle, much like the Omega Squadron's iron-blooded fighting style as a heavy assault force.
Soldiers of the Omega Squadron can be seen at the Krusas Air Port. They wear ordinary Confederacy dark brown uniforms, with pure black armor and a white skull as their distinctive insignia.
The vast majority of soldiers in the Omega Squadron have undergone resocialization, so their uniform collars are turned up high to cover the barcode markings between the back of their heads and necks. Under normal circumstances, Omega soldiers are extremely mild-mannered, even more so than all the garrulous veterans, but once they enter combat mode, they transform into bloodthirsty demons.
The recruitment of this unit is very strange; they only accept the most vicious thugs before they undergo resocialization.
Unsurprisingly, the two most powerful squadrons in the Confederacy Navy will become Augustus's trump cards. Moreover, Augustus will no longer have to worry about how to deal with the extremely vicious criminals in the Revolutionary Army's territory.
The Dela IV is the home of the Omega Squadron and is also home to the famous Dylarian Shipyards. Currently, the Dylar System is not under the actual control of the United Earth Directorate Expeditionary Fleet; Augustus is preparing to dispatch a small Fleets to take over the system.
Currently, most of the Omega Squadron's battlecruisers are still undergoing repairs in the shipyard, and his troops will rest and regroup in Krusas before that. The Omega soldiers are undergoing further resocialization to shift their allegiance from the Confederacy to the Revolutionary Army.
Not only the Omega Squadron, but in just one week, several Confederacy battleships and battlecruisers have entered planets under the actual control of the Revolutionary Army and surrendered to the local garrison.
Most of these were ships that had managed to escape the encirclement of the United Earth Directorate Expeditionary Fleet Fleets by sheer luck. Unable to contact the Confederacy naval command and severely damaged, they had to seek repairs at the nearest interstellar port. On many occasions, these Confederacy warships also had to seek help from their former enemies.
By incorporating some of the remaining Confederacy Fleets, Augustus's battlecruisers had reached 78. However, considering that the United Earth Directorate Expeditionary Fleet had also captured a number of Confederacy warships, the balance of power between the two sides remained far from optimistic.
Omega Squadron was relatively lucky, managing to retain at least a third of its combat strength, while Confederacy Navy squadrons like Delta Squadron and Sigma Squadron were almost completely destroyed in the Battle of Tarsonis.
At this point, the Terran Confederacy was no longer the Revolutionary Army's primary enemy. However, their power remained; Augustus's intelligence officers believed that a sizable Confederacy Fleets still existed in several core worlds still under the control of the Confederacy.
The Old Families, having fled Tarsonis, is using their wealth and factories to build a vast Fleets in an attempt to reclaim everything they have lost in Tarsonis.
While Harnack was chatting and laughing with Gregory, Augustus continued deeper into the central airport. At this time, trucks full of the Revolutionary Army and armored vehicles rumbled past almost every moment, and the exhaust flames of multiple airships taking off scorched the ground, rapidly heating the air behind them into blurry and distorted heat waves.
Augustus knew that his warriors were ready for a war against Earthlings—propaganda and mobilization were crucial to launching a large-scale war, and this was also true in the interstellar age.
As he walked past a Marine battalion lined up, composed of veterans of the Krusas Guild Wars, the soldiers, led by a captain, chanted their pledge to defend their homeland and the Terrans to the death.
The gist is: The ambitions of the Earth invaders are now crystal clear; they have brought nothing to the Koprulu Sector except war. The time has come for countless Terrans heroes and heroines to take up arms to defend every inch of their land and make the ultimate sacrifice for their race.
Unsurprisingly, this passage was written by Chief of Staff Arcturus Mengsk. Arcturus even planned to commission musicians from Krusas to set it to music, hoping it would be widely sung on the Revolutionary Army's planet.
It must be said that Arcturus was indeed a master of creating momentum and propaganda. This talent was even more fully demonstrated when he served as Augustus's most trusted "prime minister".
Following Augustus's several speeches, the Revolutionary Army territories and other planets that heard the speeches resolved to resist the Earth invaders, and the slogan "Either we perish or they perish" spread widely.
"Marshal, a Protoss ship has been detected at the edge of the Krusas system; it is the Protoss Ark-ship Spear of Spear of Adun." At this moment, Kerrigan, who had been standing next to Augustus, received a report from the Krusas system observation station.
"The science ship Amerigo and the battlecruisers Free Knights and Shield of Korhal are forming Fleets to follow."
"The Spear of Adun?" Augustus knew immediately that the Daelaam had arrived.
Previously, Archbishop Raszagal of Daelaam had only vaguely indicated that she would provide appropriate support. Perhaps in her view, an Ark-class ship would be considered within that scope.
The Protoss believed that a single Arkship was sufficient to launch and win a war against a civilization of similar strength.
"Is Artanis the commander of the Spear of Adun? Or is it our venerable old friend Fenix?" Augustus asked.
"This news makes me feel much more at ease."
