The battlefield had already become a sea of fire. Countless wrecks of human and Protoss warships, along with enormous Zerg carcasses, lay scattered around the White Star. In this unprecedented war, no one could remain untouched; even this great Imperial flagship was on the verge of collapse.

The White Star was positioned between Aiur and its moon, caught between millions of savage Tiamat Zerg and tens of thousands of Conclave warships. Around it were only the Imperial Second Fleet, the Umojan Protectorate First Fleet, and half of the severely battered Seventh Fleet.

About one astronomical unit away, a Daelaam Executor fleet and several Motherships under Jinarra, the Taldarim First Ascendant, were also locked in a bitter struggle.

Farther away, the Spear of Adun and the Pride of Otaris were still exchanging fire. Even at this distance, they remained two utterly extraordinary warships.

The Empire possessed a restored Xel'Naga Worldship. Only such a vessel could stand alongside the Protoss arks. The creators of worlds had originally traveled aboard these immense ships only to scatter the seeds of life through the barren newborn universe, with no intention of waging war. Yet they still possessed terrifying weapons capable of destroying civilizations.

But before the Worldship could enter the battle, Amon had returned. When Augustus launched his counterattack into the Void, however, this Worldship would surely still prove useful.

By the twentieth hour after the battle began, the Imperial fleet had already lost around four hundred battlecruisers. Ten hours later, it lost another four hundred. By the fiftieth hour, that number had doubled, exceeding the total number of warships the Empire had lost in all its previous wars combined.

Even with the current production capacities of Dylarian, Ursadon, Seros, and the Apollo Shipyard, it would take five years to construct that many warships.
