Reinforcements

Although the Epoch Clan soldiers' combat suits looked somewhat thin due to the materials used, they were unexpectedly reliable, capable of neutralizing more than half the impact of attacks traveling at ten times the speed of sound.

But neutralizing more than half did not mean neutralizing it entirely. Even the small remaining fraction of force was far beyond what a carbon-based body could withstand.

Attacks came from every direction, continuously striking the Epoch Clan soldiers through gaps in their defenses. Nothing showed on the surface yet, but beneath their visors, most of them were already coughing up blood, suffering serious internal injuries.

Most terrifying of all, their bodies were covered in an unknown toxin. It adhered with incredible strength and could not be wiped away once it touched them. Its powerful corrosiveness battled constantly against the combat suit material, producing pungent white smoke.

"Sir, think of something! At this rate, we'll be wiped out!" a soldier roared over the communications channel. But his superior could barely look after himself. What solution could he possibly have?

Watching Sarah and the other person grow farther and farther away, he could do nothing except keep calling for reinforcements.

Fortunately, the Epoch Clan's reinforcements finally arrived. A fleet of twenty thousand warships crossed a distance that would normally have seemed insignificant and reached low planetary orbit. Yet only twelve thousand remained, each one damaged, with hardly any left intact.

But these were twelve thousand Epoch Clan warships. Two hundred ships had already posed a tremendous threat to Sarah before. Now, with sixty times that number, the effect was easy to imagine.

Countless fireballs streaked across the sky. The moment the Epoch Clan fleet reached low orbit, it fought the Zerg forces while launching every landing Gunboat it had.
