The scales of victory began to tip toward the Epoch Clan, but the Zerg immediately launched a counterattack.

An Epoch Clan Gunboat had just landed, and the soldiers and vehicles it carried filed out in a steady stream. Before they could even disperse, the ground beneath them suddenly caved in.

A gigantic maw burst from underground, swallowing the Epoch Clan Gunboat along with some soldiers and vehicles. Dense, razor-sharp teeth spiraled through the mouth like a grinder, crushing and devouring the Epoch Clan soldiers and those smaller vehicles.

Even the more heavily defended Epoch Clan Gunboat only held out a little longer. Corrosive fluid dripping from the monster's maw made the gunboat softer and easier to chew. Under this double assault, the protective armor on the gunboat's hull quickly showed signs of abrasion and corrosion.

"It's a Tunneling Worm!"

This was also a Zerg unit recorded in the Epoch Clan archives. Although they mostly operated underground, they were a major support unit used by the Zerg to develop new planets. They were numerous and appeared on nearly every Zerg-occupied planet, so naturally, the Epoch Clan could not ignore them.

Moreover, Tunneling Worms were so enormous that they even surpassed many Zerg space units in size. And for living creatures, size was usually linked to strength and defense.

Thus, although they were classified as support units, their immense strength and tough hides still gave them considerable offensive capability.

However, their methods of attack were simply too limited and primitive. They posed no problem against smaller units, but against units like Epoch Clan Gunboats, which required time to wear down, they were somewhat inadequate.
