The Anti-Epoch Clan Alliance fractured, and the alien races formed a new Anti-Zerg Alliance. Only Rowan knew that this was fundamentally different from the previous Anti-Zerg Alliance. The new alliance had no more conspiracies, no more mutual suspicion. They were stronger than before.

A great rout began. Caught in a pincer attack, the Zerg forcibly broke open a path, withdrew from Epoch Clan territory, and retreated toward the Inner Circle Alliance.

Previously, the Inner Circle Alliance had voluntarily taken on a support role, handing large portions of the battlefield over to the Zerg. As a result, they had not done enough to contain the Zerg's retreat route.

Although the Zerg army suffered heavy losses at the beginning from being attacked from both front and rear, once the Zerg regrouped, their relatively well-designed troop composition began to show its effectiveness.

The Ancient Class units forming the defensive chain still retained some mobility. The long-range Puffer Cannon Fish went without saying, and even the massive Desolate Class Motherships could perform basic maneuvers such as firing while moving. This gave the Zerg considerable mobile combat capability.
