The Epoch Clan's final line of defense was indeed incredibly formidable. As they dismantled everything in the rear, it was practically like selling off every building to produce one last wave of troops.

This massively reinforced the frontline forces. The already formidable defensive line saw the density of its firepower network at least double, and there were even more gene-disruption cannons, completely cutting off the Zerg's previous tactic of advancing behind mountains of flesh.

Moreover, the Epoch Clan had spare gene-disruption cannons to target the Zerg's charging units, forcing the Zerg to spread their formations out further lest they suffer devastating losses from a moment's carelessness.

Whether they suffered losses or not was actually irrelevant. The main issue was that units hit by the gene-disruption cannons left behind wreckage with immense infectivity for a certain period of time, severely obstructing the Swarm's charge routes.

Whenever any defensive line came under pressure, firing a single shot along the Zerg's charging route could greatly ease the strain.

Faced with such an impregnable wall, the Zerg had no better tactics. The personnel controlled entirely by artificial intelligence prevented the Zerg's Intellects from infiltrating, while small patrol robots on constant watch also prevented the Nano-Seeds from developing.

This left the Zerg with little tactical innovation. They still relied on overwhelming numbers to batter the Epoch Clan's defenses without pause.
