Absolute Loyalty

As Luke studied the Clover Armed Airship Robbery case in the Secret Intelligence Bureau's detective chief's office, various forces in the Cape District became active.

The Security Bureau issued a notice to the entire district:

"No violent incidents are allowed during the day, and everyone must prioritize ensuring the normal operation of the docks.

A curfew will be enforced at 8 PM (Tinas Street, Windbreak Alley, Toss Street, York Street, and the vicinity of Sea-Gazing Lighthouse are exempt from the curfew).

The curfew will be lifted at 4 AM the next day, and the Cape District will return to normal."

At the same time, all those who wished to carve up the Mad Axe Gang's territory received verbal notification from the Security Bureau: the Security Bureau would not provide them any assistance, they were not allowed to enter the curfew zone at night, and otherwise... anything goes!

As dusk approached, the streets of the Cape District were deserted. Windows and doors were shut tight, and lights were kept off whenever possible.

Shelley knocked on the detective chief's office door and entered.

You've been in the army and fought battles before, so arrange for the men to rest in shifts and set up sentries around the building."

Shelley replied, "I've already arranged for the sentries... Detective Chief, do you need me to secretly provide some assistance to the Mad Axe Gang?"

"No, it's an agreement between Holt and me that the Secret Intelligence Bureau and the Security Bureau will not intervene. If the Security Bureau notices you there, it will only hasten the Mad Axe Gang's demise.

Our most important task is to defend our own territory and prevent anyone from taking advantage of the chaos to raid our base."

Shelley said confidently, "Who would dare to raid our Secret Intelligence Bureau?"

Luke, having finished tidying up, stood up, put on his coat, donned his hat, and picked up his cane.

He then said to Shelley, "The situation in the Cape District is far more complicated than you imagine. Many people want to see us fail, and a single misstep could lead to the same fate as my predecessor.

I'm going to the dormitory to rest. The defense here is in your hands.

As a soldier, you are still very capable."

Shelley stood up and saluted Luke. "Please rest assured, Detective Chief! I will absolutely not let anyone threaten your safety."

Luke returned the salute briefly and walked out of the office.

The Cape District Secret Intelligence Bureau compound was a building in the shape of a "回" character, with four walls surrounding a central parking lot.

The front of the building was the office area, while other parts housed the cafeteria, dormitories, recreational facilities, warehouses, and mechanical engineering rooms...

Many single men in the Secret Intelligence Bureau lived in the compound's dormitories.

Given the current situation in the Cape District, it was certainly not safe for Shelley to go home, so Luke chose to stay in the Secret Intelligence Bureau's dormitory.

He obtained the key to the detective chief's exclusive dormitory from the dormitory manager.

Upon finding the room, he saw Kailina with two female clerks holding a large pile of items standing at the door.

There were blankets, pillows, toiletries, and a meal box.

Seeing Luke, Kailina, holding a white enamel basin, said, "Detective Chief, your dormitory hasn't been used for some time, so we've come to clean it for you.

Now Luke knew his previous thoughts were definitely misguided.

So Luke stood aside, watching to see what Kailina intended to do. Then he heard the sound of mechanical gears turning from within the room's walls.

Kailina then said to Luke, "Detective Chief, the security system in your room has been activated. Please look into my eyes, and I will grant you access to the Cape District Secret Intelligence Bureau's Detective Chief's confidential clearance."

Luke walked in front of Kailina. Her originally deep blue eyes now turned sky blue, and within her right pupil, specks of red light flowed rhythmically.

"Detective Chief, please come closer."

Luke moved forward, almost pressing against Kailina. "Is this okay?"

Kailina tilted her head, looking up at the taller Luke, and stood on tiptoe. To maintain her balance, she placed her hands on Luke's sides.

Then Kailina's body stiffened, her eyes devoid of any expression.

A voice without emotion came from her mouth: "Meteor Detective Chief, I am a confidential-type alchemical cyborg jointly developed by the Empire Alchemical Machinery Research Institute and the Supernatural Biology Research Institute.

Kailina's eyes immediately regained their expression.
