When Aolu Academy discovered their secret art research involved human sacrifices, they demanded the Book of Calamity and the disbandment of the Abyss Chamber.

These Abyss Mages then launched an attack on the academy.

That war involved everyone within Aolu Academy and nearly destroyed the entire institution.

A large number of people died, and countless valuable documents were reduced to ashes.

The losses crippled Aolu Academy, and it took decades of recovery to gradually overcome the impact of that rebellion.

But the Abyss Mages were not eradicated.

The original 13 Abyss Mages called themselves Apostles, and they possessed the greatest power. After the riot was suppressed by Aolu Academy, seven surviving Apostles fled with the remnants of the Abyss Mages.

Furthermore, for over a hundred years, the Abyss Mages have been active.

Based on the Secret Arts they mastered, they transformed the original Abyss Chamber into the Abyssal Temple to develop their strength, dedicating themselves to recreating the "Book of Calamity" that had been seized and destroyed by Aolu Academy.

The Abyss Apostles believed that since the Book of Calamity was a mystical item transformed from an "Encyclopedia of Secret Arts," they would surely be able to replicate it.

According to intelligence reports, the process of the Abyss Apostles replicating the "Book of Calamity" was not going smoothly.

Aolu Academy convened a high-level faculty meeting overnight.

Dean Wilfred first reviewed his own underestimation of the enemy and proposed the reorganization of the Aolu Academy Crisis Committee. He suggested drafting capable faculty and senior students to reform the Aolu Battle Mage Corps, which was used back in the day to deal with the Abyss Mages.
