Conan's brain rumbled as it raced, rapidly sorting through the situation before him. "At the time, Uncle Mouri had been anesthetized by me and knew nothing at all. So the only people who knew the truth were me, the killer, Inspector Megure, and Dr. Araide.
"Of those, I obviously never told anyone about it.
"The killer was locked up in Prison. Out of guilt, and to protect her family, she wouldn't reveal the truth.
"And Inspector Megure goes without saying. He was in charge of that case. If anyone found out he had helped fabricate evidence, he'd be in the most trouble, so naturally he wouldn't say anything either.
"That only left the real Dr. Araide. Dr. Araide cared deeply about his family. To protect that housekeeper, he certainly wouldn't reveal that the one who had pulled the trigger to kill was actually his family's maid."
Yet now, the Dr. Araide before him had spoken of something only four people knew.
"Could it be... I got everything wrong?" Conan stared blankly at the car across from him and the person standing beside it, his mind utterly bewildered. "Is this Dr. Araide the real one? Is he really himself?"
But if Dr. Araide was Dr. Araide, not Vermouth... then who was Vermouth?
Suddenly, a phrase sprang into his mind—"luring the tiger off the mountain."
"Oh no!" Conan's heart lurched as a terrifying possibility surfaced.
"The Full Moon Cruise Ship was the first trap, and Dr. Araide was the second... Vermouth planned to lure me away with two traps, then make a move on Haibara?!"
The moment the thought crossed his mind, he pulled out his phone, intending to ask Haibara Ai about her situation.
He opened his address book and was about to dial, but Conan suddenly froze.
...Something was wrong.
