When Naruto and Kurotsuchi found the Third Tsuchikage, he and Kitsuchi were fighting the demonized ninja.
Thick layers of rock encased Kitsuchi's hands, lending a thousand pounds of force to every punch. Every ninja who approached him was sent flying, and some were even pounded into pulp. The scene was brutally bloody.
Yet even after being beaten to such a state, the demonized ninja did not die. Demonic energy continued pouring from their bodies, knitting them back together. They were practically supercharged cockroaches. Naruto clearly sensed, however, that the revived ninja were much weaker, and their demonic energy had diminished considerably. Some could no longer recover after Kitsuchi killed them four or five times. Once their demonic energy was exhausted, they truly died.

He still had plenty of chakra, but his frail body could not keep up with such an intense battle. Before long, he was panting and drenched in sweat.
A ninja seized the moment while the Third Tsuchikage rested and attacked him from behind. But with a lifetime of combat experience, the Third Tsuchikage sensed the attack without even looking. He flew higher to evade it, formed hand seals, and fired Dust Release behind him, erasing the ninja from the world.
The Third Tsuchikage snorted. "Hmph!
