Obito set out with Rin to search for Minato. Once they entered the Land of Fire, Obito tapped into his intelligence network and quickly learned the Fourth Hokage's whereabouts, then headed there with Rin.
"Obito, are you sure we're going the right way? Why haven't we found Minato-sensei yet?" Rin asked in confusion.
Obito replied, "We should be. According to the intelligence, they'd take this road if they were heading to the Dragon Vein. I think something must have held them up. We should be able to find them if we keep following it."
Rin nodded. "Then let's hurry. We still haven't found Minato-sensei after all this time. I'm worried he might have run into trouble." Obito nodded, and the two picked up their pace.
Elsewhere, Minato, Kakashi, and their companions had indeed run into trouble. They had encountered a Demon Race force also heading toward the Dragon Vein, and a fierce battle had broken out.
Demon Race corpses littered the ground, with Flying Thunder God Kunai scattered everywhere. The Demon Race commander saw that nearly half his force had been killed or wounded in just a few minutes. He had also discovered the limitation of Minato's Flying Thunder God: Minato could only appear where there was a Flying Thunder God Mark. The commander had therefore intended to have his men remove the kunai, but the moment his soldiers approached them, a golden flash appeared and cut down anyone who came close.
Even when they managed to destroy a few kunai, Minato simply drew another and hurled it out, forming hand seals as he called, "Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique!" Hundreds upon thousands of kunai bearing Flying Thunder God Marks appeared anew. Then the Fourth Hokage took center stage once again, his kunai and Rasengan claiming another large swath of Demon
