Walking down Konoha's streets again, Obito felt as though a lifetime had passed. He sighed. "Walking down this road again, somehow it feels like nothing has changed, but also like everything has changed. I don't even know how to describe what I'm feeling."
Kakashi smiled. "You just overthink things. Actually, I get that feeling sometimes too. It feels like we've only just graduated from the academy and started going on missions with Minato-sensei, and you're still that big idiot who's always late. Unfortunately, whenever I snap out of it, I realize all that happened ages ago. Obito, thank you. Thank you for coming back. Rin is back, and Minato-sensei is back too. I can finally escape those nightmare-like illusions, because now all of this is real."
Obito paused. Deep down, hadn't he wished everything could stay the same too? He would still be that carefree kid, Kakashi would still be as smug as ever, Rin would still be just as sweet and kind, and Minato-sensei would still be so gentle.
But everything had changed after Rin died. Now Rin and their teacher were back, but he and Kakashi might not be able to return to the way they had been. Perhaps he was the only one who couldn't go back. Obito's heart filled with anxiety and unease.
Just then, Rin rose onto her toes and knocked both Kakashi and Obito on the head. "What's wrong with you two? We're finally all back together, so we should treasure it! How can you be so negative? I can understand Kakashi-he's always been like that-but what's happened to you, Obito? The Obito I know is optimistic. Nothing could stop your determination to become Hokage. Why are you acting like Kakashi now? Both of you, cheer up!"
