Itachi Uchiha suddenly dropped his defenses, catching Thanatos by surprise. When he saw Shizuka Uchiha standing in front of Itachi, he burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Foolish mortal, do you think this woman alone can stop me, Thanatos? Die!"
Even Black Zetsu, who knew Itachi Uchiha well, thought this was a terrible move. He said slowly, "Is it over? Has he given up? That shouldn't be right. But this woman alone shouldn't be able to stop Lord Thanatos."
Facing Thanatos's all-out attack, Shizuka Uchiha stood in front of Itachi without showing any fear. She tossed out a scroll and drew an enormous greatsword from it, its blade as large as she was.
Shizuka Uchiha had already activated her Mangekyō Sharingan. The patterns in both eyes spun madly, and the surroundings abruptly transformed into a world of ice and snow. White flames then ignited along her greatsword. With a sudden movement, she appeared before the blade energy Thanatos had unleashed and slashed down hard.
What happened next shocked both Thanatos and Black Zetsu. As Shizuka Uchiha's greatsword struck Thanatos's blade energy, it froze solid, then scattered into the air as though nothing had happened.
Black Zetsu cried out in shock, "Th-this is impossible! How could this happen? This can't be!" He began to babble incoherently. This was beyond anything he understood.
Thanatos himself, however, remained relatively calm. He had begun to wonder how an ordinary mortal could freeze him the moment Shizuka Uchiha had done so. At first, Itachi Uchiha had kept him from thinking too deeply about it, but now he had calmed down.
After sensing the frozen surroundings, Thanatos spoke with shock, anger, and a trace of envy. "A self-contained world-an inner world! To think a mere mortal actually has an inner world of her own. How is this possible?
