History
The Dai Family and Zhu Family helped establish the Star Luo Empire through the efforts of their ancestors, Dai Tianli and Zhu Qingshou. Both were Titled Douluo, and their Martial Soul Fusion Skill was powerful enough to kill a Spirit Hall Titled Douluo. Marriage agreements between the families remained politically binding generations later 119.
The Dai Family held the upper hand in that alliance. Zhu Zhuqing described it as having roughly twice the Zhu Family’s number of Soul Sages and Soul Douluo, as well as a Titled Douluo ancestor whose survival was then uncertain 168. The family’s rule also drew resentment from people who said they had suffered under its suppression 76.
Succession struggle
Dai heirs competed for the throne on the basis of talent and strength; defeat could mean death. Dai Weisi’s pursuit drove his younger brother Dai Mubai out of the Star Luo Empire and into Shrek Academy 117. After Dai Mubai returned with two Soul Bones taken from Ma Hongjun, his Soul Power reached level 48 and King Dai shifted his favor toward him 192 193. King Dai then moved to pass him the throne, while Dai Weisi lost the family’s support 193 203.
Destruction
Cao Yan accompanied Zhu Ziqing to the Dai Family to break off the Zhu sisters’ engagements and seek justice for Ma Hongjun 187 192. Cao Yan killed Dai Weisi and the Soul Douluo elders Dai Da and Dai Er, then confronted King Dai at the imperial palace 202 203 204. After King Dai recognized Cao Yan’s Peerless Douluo-level strength, the family knelt and sought mercy 206 207.
The family turned on Dai Mubai when Cao Yan offered to spare them if they executed him, but Dai Mubai defeated the disciples sent against him 209 210 211. Former family head Dai Tianli appeared and challenged Cao Yan; he too was defeated 212 215. Dai Mubai was killed, and Cao Yan demanded that the remaining family members cripple their Soul Power and cease using the Dai Family name in the Star Luo Empire. They refused, and he killed them 215 216 218. At Dai Tianli’s request, Cao Yan agreed to proper burials for the dead 218 219.
