Background / History
Dai Mubai was born into the Dai Family, Star Luo Empire’s imperial house. The family’s succession system favored the strongest heir, turning the struggle for the throne into a lethal contest. After his elder brother Dai Weisi eliminated their second brother and pursued him, Dai Mubai fled the empire to survive. An unidentified old man saved him after he was badly injured during his escape; Dai later settled at Shrek Academy to cultivate strength and eventually reclaim the throne 117.
While in Suotuo City, Dai Mubai behaved as an entitled prince despite his fugitive status. At the Rose Hotel, he tried to seize Xiao Wu and threatened Cao Yan when he intervened. Cao Yan defeated him effortlessly, forcing Dai Mubai to apologize, kowtow, and leave the hotel by rolling out. Manager Wang then exposed him as a wanted imperial prince, leading the crowd to assault him for the Dai Family’s abuses 70 76.
At Shrek Academy, Dai Mubai attempted to reassert control over his nominal fiancée, Zhu Zhuqing. He demanded that she cultivate with him, proposed dual cultivation, threatened force when she refused, and treated their engagement as ownership. Zhu Zhuqing rejected the marriage arrangement and declared that she had come to the academy to grow stronger for herself 114 120.
After being defeated by Ma Hongjun, Dai Mubai escalated further. He arranged to drug Zhu Zhuqing with Ten Fragrance Softening Tendon Powder, but Cuihua consumed the prepared drink instead. Dai Mubai later admitted that he had used the drug to obtain Cuihua’s body 156 158.
Dai Mubai eventually attacked Ma Hongjun, stole two Soul Bones from him, and caused Cuihua’s death. He returned to the Star Luo Empire after absorbing the Soul Bones, gaining King Dai’s favor and becoming a leading candidate for the throne 160 168 192 193.
Cao Yan, Flender, and the Zhu Family later confronted the Dai Family. After Cao Yan defeated King Dai and Dai Tianli, Dai Mubai was abandoned by his own family. Though he defeated several attacking disciples, King Dai ultimately killed him to save the Dai Family from Cao Yan 205 215.

Personality
Dai Mubai is proud, domineering, and intensely status-conscious. He repeatedly invokes his identity as an imperial prince to justify threatening others and expects obedience from Zhu Zhuqing because of their family-arranged engagement 71 115 117.

Despite his arrogance, Dai Mubai becomes fearful and submissive when confronted with overwhelming strength. He kowtows to Cao Yan at the Rose Hotel, panics after learning Cao Yan is a Peerless Douluo, and begs for his life when his family turns against him 74 205 209.
