Background / History

Far North and imprisonment

Tian Meng’s early life revolved around eating and sleeping, leaving her with little practical experience despite her enormous age. She occupied a Profound Ice Cavern and later became familiar with Ice Empress and Snow Empress in the Far North 6 34.

After leaving her cave, she took a liking to Ice Empress despite Ice Jade Scorpions being natural enemies of Ice Silkworms. Her intrusive affection earned Ice Empress’s lasting hostility, particularly after Tian Meng covered her face in kisses while she was recovering from a lightning tribulation 31.

Di Tian’s side imprisoned Tian Meng in the Star Dou Great Forest and drained her for ten thousand years. Her eventual million-year breakthrough allowed her to escape, but heavenly punishment began exhausting her lifespan. Facing death, she developed a plan to “create a god” through a human partner 6 152.

Capture and contract

In the Star Dou Great Forest, Tian Meng approaches Huo Yutong after detecting her spiritual attribute. She knocks the girl unconscious, but the remnant presence of Electrolux breaks her spiritual suppression and frightens her. Jiang Yi intervenes before she proceeds, throwing a Master Ball that passes through her spiritual shock and captures her 4.

Tian Meng initially suspects Jiang Yi of working for Di Tian and refuses to become his pet. Her stance changes when she learns that the Master Ball space has stopped her life decay. She willingly forms a contract, retaining her physical body rather than becoming a Wisdom Soul Ring 6.

The contract supplies Jiang Yi’s second soul ring and raises him from Level 20 to Level 28. Because his body cannot withstand her full origin, she must seal most of it; their initially low intimacy permits him to borrow only Spirit Detection 6.

Training and the Far North expedition

Jiang Yi gives Tian Meng the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record after she complains about lacking spiritual attack methods. Believing he has made a painful bargain for her sake, she resolves to become a top-tier expert and abandon her reputation as a useless million-year Soul Beast 16 17.

After Jiang Yi reaches Level 30, Tian Meng volunteers to find his next contract partner in the Far North. Her poor navigation first takes them to the Ice Sea, but they eventually reach Ice Empress’s cave. Unwilling to harm the Ice Jade Scorpions, she disguises herself and Jiang Yi as ordinary Ice Silkworms 29 30.

Ice Empress overwhelms her in direct combat. Tian Meng turns the apparent defeat into an ambush, stunning her at close range with Purple Demon Eye so Jiang Yi can capture her. She then persuades Ice Empress to consider a contract as protection against her approaching Heavenly Tribulation 30 31.

Evolution and Soul Tool research

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eye, Jiang Yi discovers a resonance between Tian Meng’s bloodline and Tang Wutong’s Light Goddess Butterfly. He channels the butterfly’s power into her Master Ball, initiating her Dream Butterfly evolution 71 72.

With her enhanced power and mature form, Tian Meng briefly restrains Jiang Yi inside an illusionary world and tries to reverse their hierarchy. He dispels the illusion, seals her cultivation, and returns her to her smaller form, demonstrating that she cannot override his ultimate control of the Master Ball 72.

Her improved learning ability subsequently makes her a valuable technical partner. She creates the Butterfly Dagger, develops its Life-Bound fusion, and manufactures additional Soul Tools for Jiang Yi 90 91 96.

Later missions

Tian Meng helps Ice Empress reseal Snow Empress’s unstable origin power. Later, she impersonates Di Tian while approaching the Water and Fire Dragon Kings’ remains, then stays behind to gather their scattered bloodline energy into Soul Bones 125 126 152 153.

During a mission at the Lake of Life, she seals Scarlet King and Bi Ji, steals Gold of Life, and withdraws rather than confront Di Tian directly. She brings Bi Ji to Jiang Yi as a gift, supplying his group with a powerful healer 172 176.

Her later work includes studying the Sealing God Platform, researching Soul Beast Contracts with Electrolux, and deploying a complex Soul Tool core before Shrek’s Golden Tree 143 235 260.

Appearance

  • Original beast form: A large, plump silkworm larva surrounded by faint icy mist; her arrival sharply lowers the surrounding temperature 4.
  • Compact beast form: A palm-sized, golden-and-white silkworm with two soft antennae, often perched on Jiang Yi’s shoulder 6.
  • Small human form: A little blonde girl with golden eyes. She remains small even after following Jiang Yi for several years 17 32 260.
  • Mature human form: A statuesque blonde woman with fair skin, long legs, and a dreamlike aura. Jiang Yi can switch her between her larger and smaller forms 73 90 128.
  • Dream Butterfly form: Gold-and-azure wings with captivating patterns that make observers feel drawn into a dream 72.

Personality

Tian Meng is boastful, playful, and prone to declaring herself powerful immediately after gaining a new technique. Her confidence often exceeds her practical competence: she claims unmatched knowledge of the Far North, then leads Jiang Yi in the wrong direction 29 30 96.

Her pride gives way to pragmatism when survival is at stake. Although she initially vows never to become anyone’s pet, the chance to escape heavenly punishment quickly persuades her to accept Jiang Yi. She becomes protective of him, warns him about dangerous spiritual presences, and credits him with giving her a life more exciting than her previous hundreds of thousands of years 6 8 31.

She is jealous of attention given to Jiang Yi’s other companions and considers herself the veteran of his group. Nevertheless, she supports their survival: she refuses to kill Ice Empress’s clansmen, helps stabilize Snow Empress, and urges the Far North companions to stop fighting among themselves 30 35 126 197 220.

Despite her fondness for eating and sleeping, Tian Meng becomes an exceptionally persistent learner. Her vast mental reserves let her study continuously without tiring, allowing Jiang Yi to delegate techniques and technical research to her 6 17 32 79.

Abilities & Skills

Spiritual Power and Spirit Detection

  • Her system-listed talent is Master of Mental Power; her original skill list includes Mental Detection and Mental Sharing 5.
  • Spirit Detection gives Jiang Yi a clear view of everything within one thousand meters when first borrowed 6.
  • With her spiritual power supporting it, detection is generally unnoticed by those below Title Douluo level 6.
  • She shares perceived images directly into another person’s mind and creates protective mental barriers 150 197.
  • Her original million-year state lacks divine consciousness, although her later spiritual power is described as comparable to divine sense 5 91.

Tian Meng Finger

  • Compresses spiritual power and gathers surrounding ice-and-snow energy into an icy-blue beam 30.
  • Blocks Ice Empress’s first casual strike, but fails against her stronger second attack 30.

Tang Sect Techniques

  • Purple Demon Eye: Supplies a powerful spiritual attack capable of stunning Ice Empress at close range 17 30.
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Learned from the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 17.
  • Jiang Yi can share acquired techniques learned by Tian Meng through their contract 17.

Dream Butterfly Illusions and Sealing

  • Creates elaborate illusionary environments and restraints within the Master Ball space 72.
  • Imitates appearances and auras, including Ice Empress, Snow Empress, and Di Tian 76 128 152.
  • Makes Snow Empress’s palm strike pass through her, then suppresses the Soul Power of Snow Empress’s weakened human form through physical contact 128.
  • Seals Scarlet King and Bi Ji with seven-colored chains; Scarlet King experiences delusions of reaching the God Realm and defeating Di Tian 172.
  • Dissolves into fluttering light butterflies while escaping with Bi Ji 172.
  • Her enhanced illusions do not supersede Jiang Yi’s absolute authority over his own Master Ball 72.

Soul Tool Engineering

  • Controls light with spiritual power to brand array patterns onto metal without touching it or using an engraving knife 90 91.
  • Uses the Life-Bound Butterfly Dagger as a medium for formations, compensating for her original shortage of offensive techniques 96.
  • Her Class 6 binding formation traps Ice Empress while Ice Empress’s origin remains sealed; the feat does not establish superiority over Ice Empress’s unrestricted strength 96.
  • Identifies the Sealing God Platform’s restrictions: its target must first lose the ability to resist, and the seal runs on the target’s own Soul Power 143.
  • Recognizes that adapting the platform into a contract-capable natal Soul Tool requires extensive modifications and rare, spiritually potent metals 143.

Contract-Based Power Sharing

  • Supplies Jiang Yi with spiritual talent, cultivation energy, and access to her skills 6 22.
  • Full energy transfer is limited by Jiang Yi’s physical constitution, requiring her origin power to remain partly sealed 6 22.
  • Their contract preserves her body and conceals her from the heavenly punishment that followed her million-year breakthrough 6 31.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record — Jiang Yi’s gift containing the Tang Sect techniques she studies 16 17.
  • Butterfly Dagger — Initially a first-tier Soul Tool with a butterfly-wing guard and spiritual arrays that generate hallucinations. Later fused with her spiritual origin, leaving a pink butterfly mark on her hand 90 91 96.
  • Heaven Ice Sword — Made for Jiang Yi from an Ice Explosion Soul Bone and Ice Pole Divine Crystal. Preserves Ice Explosion, requires Ultimate Ice, and halves the Soul Power cost of ice-element skills 150.
  • Profound Ice Marrow — Receives approximately half of a forty-five-piece harvest to replenish origin energy drained during her imprisonment 35.
  • Gold of Life — Stolen from the Lake of Life for its value as a life-infused Soul Tool material 172.
  • Golden Tree formation core — A complex metal hub made from more than one hundred interconnected rings, deployed before the Golden Tree 260.

Relationships

  • Jiang Yi — Master, contract partner, and intimate companion. Their relationship develops from resistance into affection and technical cooperation, while retaining a playful struggle over authority 6 31 72 91 150.
  • Ice Empress / Bingbing — Longstanding object of affection and frequent target of teasing. Tian Meng initially calls her the “moonlight of her heart”; later, she describes her fixation as envy of Ice Empress’s beauty, strength, and aloofness rather than attraction to girls 31 96.
  • Snow Empress / Xue’er — Familiar Far North acquaintance and contentious companion. Tian Meng helps save her from origin backlash, but Snow Empress blames her for bringing Ice Empress into Jiang Yi’s circle 126 197.
  • Tang Wutong — Her Light Goddess Butterfly bloodline provides the resonance that enables Tian Meng’s Dream Butterfly evolution 71 72.
  • Huo Yutong — Initially approached as a spiritually compatible human. Tian Meng later recognizes her divine-beast inheritance and envies her opportunity to become a god 4 235.
  • Electrolux — Initially a terrifying spiritual presence sensed within Huo Yutong; later a collaborator in Soul Beast Contract research 8 232 235.
  • Di Tian — Former captor and a dangerous pursuer. Tian Meng knows his mannerisms well enough to impersonate him but avoids a direct confrontation at the Lake of Life 6 152 172.
  • Bi Ji — Captured during Tian Meng’s Lake of Life mission and brought to Jiang Yi as a healer. Later treated as a rival for his attention 172 176 197.
