Background / History

Tang San comes from the Clear Sky Sect bloodline as the son of Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Douluo. He possesses Twin Martial Souls and carries knowledge from a previous life, including the Tang Sect’s techniques and the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. He considers himself uniquely destined to rise to the world’s peak. 33 52

At Shrek Academy, Tang San is deeply loyal to Yu Xiaogang, Ma Hongjun, and the other Shrek Seven Devils. When Ma Hongjun and Yu Xiaogang return badly beaten after confronting Gu Sheng, Tang San promises to seek justice for them. 15

Personality

Tang San is fiercely protective of those he considers his own. He repeatedly risks himself for Xiao Wu, whom he calls his younger sister, and refuses to abandon her even after her identity as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast is exposed. 32 33

His loyalty readily becomes vengeance. He views harm or humiliation directed at Shrek, Yu Xiaogang, Ma Hongjun, Xiao Wu, Tang Hao, or the Clear Sky Sect as a personal grievance requiring repayment. Conflict with Gu Sheng

After Yu Xiaogang and Ma Hongjun are beaten in Heaven Dou City, Tang San vows to make Gu Sheng pay. He learns that Gu Sheng has become captain of the Martial Soul Hall team and resolves to defeat him in the tournament final. 15 19

During the final, Tang San displays tactical skill with Blue Silver Grass, the Eight Spider Lances, Bat Wing Reincarnation, and the team’s coordinated power. After the rest of Shrek falls, he receives their soul power and temporarily activates the Clear Sky Hammer’s Avatar of the Weapon Soul. 20 21 23

Tang San’s strike seemingly defeats Gu Sheng, but Gu Sheng emerges uninjured after breaking his seal. Tang San ultimately surrenders when Gu Sheng’s Element Storm leaves the Shrek team unable to continue fighting. 25 26 28

Xiao Wu’s Exposure and Escape

When Bibi Dong exposes Xiao Wu as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast, Tang San shields her and declares that anyone seeking to take her must first step over his corpse. 32 33

Tang Hao intervenes and attempts to flee with Tang San and Xiao Wu. Gu Sheng and Bibi Dong stop them; Tang Hao loses his left arm protecting Tang San, then escapes with him by detonating a soul ring. Xiao Wu is left behind and captured. 35

Crippling, Revenge, and Apparent Death

Following the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect and Tang Hao’s death, Tang San is left severely wounded, with his Clear Sky Hammer shattered and his meridians ruptured. Gu Sheng deliberately allows him to retain a final breath. 48 52
