Yu Xiaogang was acquainted with Bibi Dong in the past. Seeing Lin Nuo's resemblance to her and learning that his martial soul was the Death Demon Spider leaves Yu emotionally shaken; he retreats into Nuoding Academy in a daze. 2

At Nuoding, he accepts Tang San as his disciple and identifies Lin Nuo as someone whose connection to Bibi Dong may be useful. He initially advises Tang San to maintain good relations with Lin Nuo, then repeatedly attempts to recruit Lin Nuo himself. 4 5 6

Yu seeks Lin Nuo as both proof for his “Invincible Theory” and a possible source of Bibi Dong's Twin Martial Soul cultivation secrets. Lin Nuo rejects him and publicly challenges his strength and credentials, causing Yu to lose face. 5 6
