Background / History

While pursuing Tang Hao, Qian Daoliu detected a faint divine aura within Tang Hao's attack. Unable to directly interfere in a matter involving deities, he witnessed the destruction of Hound Village and saved Su Zhen from the devastation. He later admitted that Tang Hao had massacred the village to delay his pursuit. 4 5

After Su Zhen requested to become his disciple, Qian Daoliu initially challenged the boy's worthiness. Su Zhen's Thunder Prison Qilin—strong enough to stir Qian Daoliu's Six-Winged Angel—earned his approval, but he imposed a test: Su Zhen had to walk 500 kilometers to Martial Soul City within one month. 5 6

Although presented as a condition for apprenticeship, Qian Daoliu had already intended to accept Su Zhen and secretly protected him throughout the journey. He intervened when a Spirit Tiger attacked Meat Fragrance Village, then confronted Di Tian after the latter approached Su Zhen. 7

Upon Su Zhen's timely arrival in Martial Soul City, Qian Daoliu formally accepted him as a disciple and introduced him to the Worship Hall elders. He thereafter organized Su Zhen's cultivation, personally guiding his deep meditation and repeatedly accompanying him on dangerous spirit-ring hunts. 8 13 14

Years later, Di Tian warned Qian Daoliu of a future in which Tang San destroys Martial Soul Hall, kills Bibi Dong, and cripples Qian Renxue. To awaken Su Zhen's Martial Soul as the variable capable of changing that future, Qian Daoliu reluctantly agreed to reveal his suspicions that Su Zhen's awakening had drawn the divine force behind Tang Hao to Hound Village. 34

Qian Daoliu is associated with the majesty of the Angel Martial Soul. He has been seen as a golden-winged figure wielding a sword, and later as a golden-haired man in gray robes. 4 19

Qian Daoliu is stern, demanding, and pragmatic in his mentorship. He subjects Su Zhen to rigorous tests and training, corrects even minor flaws in his meditation, and teaches him not to depend excessively on Healing System Soul Masters. 6 13 24

Despite this severity, he is deeply protective of his disciple and granddaughter. He watched over Su Zhen in secret during the journey to Martial Soul City, searched personally for rare spirit beasts suited to Su Zhen, and arranged a Titled Douluo plus two Soul Douluos to protect him during experiential training. 7 14 24

His affection for Qian Renxue is overtly doting, though he may hide it behind a stern manner. He values the safety granted by her fifth soul skills because he cannot remain at her side at all times. 32 33

Qian Daoliu is capable of difficult strategic decisions. He spared Chen Xin because he considered the swordsman useful as a future whetstone for Su Zhen, and he ultimately cooperated with Di Tian's plan despite knowing it would emotionally break his disciple. 19 34
