Dai Mubai is a Star Luo Empire prince and the direct rival of his older brother, Dai Weisi, in the empire's succession system, where the throne belongs to the strongest contender. Dai Weisi possessed greater talent, resources, political support, and a cultivation advantage, while Dai Mubai believed remaining in the imperial palace would eventually lead to his death being disguised as an accident. He left the empire not to abandon the succession struggle, but to survive, gain strength, and someday return. 44

Having heard that Shrek Academy was impoverished and near collapse, Dai Mubai initially sought it out only because he had nowhere else he trusted to go. The academy's rebuilt grounds, training facilities, flag, and uniforms contradicted the rumors and left a strong impression on him. 43
