"Get lost. After all these years, you're still the same."
Led by Lin Xiao, Zhou Yi arrived at a tavern in Suotuo City. He picked up the menu, looked it over, and simply ordered one of everything. It was his first time in the mortal world, and he was curious about everything here.
Especially the food. As the saying went, people were made of iron and food was steel—skip one meal and you'd be starving.
After ordering a table full of dishes, Zhou Yi took a sniff and revealed a long-lost smile. "Hahaha, smells amazing. I'm digging in."
With that, Zhou Yi began wolfing down the food as though he had not eaten in eight hundred years.
Lin Xiao smiled. "You're one to talk. Didn't you call yourself a refined young gentleman? How did you turn into such a foodie?"
Zhou Yi raised his head, took a bite of a huge chicken leg, and said, "What do you know? How can I act cool if I'm not full? Come on, drink."
Lin Xiao raised his cup. After the two clinked glasses, they drained them in one gulp.
Zhou Yi looked at his cup and frowned. Feeling the burning heat in his throat and stomach, he could not help wondering how strong this liquor was.
After eating for a while, Zhou Yi finally asked, "Lin Xiao, what have you done in this world? Where have you been?"
"It's a long story. My grandfather threw me onto Sea God Island, then I somehow ended up marrying Bo Saixi, the Great Priest of Sea God Island. After that, I came to the continent to travel around."
Zhou Yi's eyes lit up. "Damn, seriously? You actually got married? If the women in the God Realm who pursue you find out, they'll go crazy. Besides, is Bo Saixi pretty?"
Looking at gossip-hungry Zhou Yi, Lin Xiao could not help recalling Bo Saixi's gentle face. Though she carried a trace of coldness, she had always treated him well.
Overall, Bo Saixi was quite wonderful.
"Very."
"I can tell from your expression that your wife is beautiful."
Lin Xiao glared at him. "Hey, hey, don't mess around. We agreed before that I'm the big brother. Don't forget that."
Zhou Yi got worked up too. He slapped the table, grabbed the wine jug on it, and said, "That doesn't count anymore. We'll compete by drinking now. Whoever loses becomes the little brother."
"Fine, let's compete. You think I'm afraid of you?"
Just as the two were about to begin, several burly men at the next table sneered. "Hehehe, two brats who haven't even grown all their hair yet want to compete in drinking? You really don't know your place."
Zhou Yi's face darkened. Just as he raised the wine jug, he abruptly stopped and slowly lifted his feather fan with his left hand.
Lin Xiao was somewhat displeased as well. Nothing was more annoying than being interrupted while drinking.
"Lin Xiao, are you doing it, or should I?"
Zhou Yi's voice was icy. He clearly was not happy.
As the grandson of one of the three great enforcers, no one had ever dared speak disrespectfully to him. Those who did had long since become dry bones in Shu.
"I'll do it. You're the guest. If you act, it might draw attention."
Zhou Yi sneered, slowly placed his feather fan on the table, and turned to look at the men at the neighboring table.
Lin Xiao set down his wine cup, turned around, and walked toward the burly men.
"Hm?" The bald man at their head frowned as he watched Lin Xiao approach. "Yo, brat, are you tired of living? Do you even know where you are? You trying to start a rebellion?"
Lin Xiao sneered. "Gentlemen, from this moment on, you have been sentenced to death."
The bald brute slammed his palm onto the table and rose to his feet. The two-meter-tall man stood a head taller than Lin Xiao. He pulled a meter-long cleaver from his waist.
The others all stood as well, glaring coldly at Lin Xiao. Before anyone noticed, they had all drawn cleavers, seemingly intending to chop the two of them into minced meat.
"Brat, say that again if you've got the guts!"
"Idiot."
The bald man's eyes turned cold. He raised his cleaver high and swung it at Lin Xiao's head.
If that cleaver landed on Lin Xiao's head, it would likely split him in two.
Lin Xiao sneered, clearly not taking them seriously. He slowly raised his right hand and lightly caught the bald man's cleaver between two fingers.
The bald man's eyes widened. He had not expected this brat to catch his cleaver.
He was a Soul King. His old face reddened as he used all his strength to pull the cleaver free, but even after exerting every ounce of strength he had, the blade did not move in the slightest.
"Damn brat, let go right now! Believe it or not, I'll kill you!"
"Oh? Then I'll grant your wish."
Lin Xiao released his right hand, and the bald man was sent flying by his own force. He only came to a stop after crashing through a wall.
"I... I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you!"
"Kill him!"
The others looked at one another and released their soul rings at the same time. Apart from the bald man, the rest had all reached the level of Soul Elders.
Blades flashed. At some point, the men had all stopped moving, their bloodshot eyes fixed on Lin Xiao.
Their right hands clutched their throats tightly. The moment blood sprayed out, they could no longer support themselves and collapsed heavily to the ground. After one brief struggle, they died.
"Murder! Murder!"
The other diners were so frightened that they hurriedly ran out of the tavern. The waiters and the tavern owner cowered behind the counter, not daring to make a sound, terrified that Lin Xiao would kill them in a single strike.
When the bald man saw his subordinates instantly slain, his heart skipped a beat and his face turned deathly pale.
He finally understood that he had provoked the wrong people. Just as he tried to quietly slip away, an icy chill instantly filled the entire tavern.
"Leaving? Where do you think you're going?"
With a thud, the man dropped to his knees without another word, tears streaming down his face.
"Dad, Grandpa, Ancestor, I was wrong! I won't dare do it again! Please spare me!"
The bald man wailed as he repeatedly kowtowed, making it seem as though Lin Xiao were the one bullying them.
"Weren't you acting pretty arrogant just now? Why aren't you so cocky anymore?"
The bald man froze. No longer caring about anything else, he slapped himself across the face, and his right cheek immediately swelled up.
"Ancestor, is this enough?"
"Lin Xiao, if you can't bring yourself to do it, I will."
Zhou Yi's voice sounded behind Lin Xiao. At some point, Zhou Yi had already appeared behind him. With a light wave of his feather fan, the bald brute instantly turned into a cloud of ashes and vanished from the tavern.
"You bastard, didn't I tell you not to interfere?"
Zhou Yi laughed. "That's not my fault. Who told you to be so slow? This isn't like the old you. Since when did the Asura God's grandson become so indecisive?"
"Get lost. Nothing good ever comes out of your mouth. Are we still drinking or not?"
"Of course we are. There's still plenty of wine left to drink."
The two turned around and continued drinking and chatting, paying no attention to the burly men beside them as their bodies gradually grew cold.
