Shi Fen used tongs crafted from Kro Alloy to retrieve a piece of Blue Gold, now burned to a golden hue, and placed it upon a specialized anvil.
He set down the tongs, closed the furnace, and swung a forging hammer—also made of Kro Alloy—striking the scorching Blue Gold with heavy force to begin the initial purification, the "thousand strikes," and the "hundred refinements."
Standing in the distance, Luo Feng held up his phone, secretly anxious; he was too far away to capture any of the details clearly. He scanned the area quickly and spotted an excellent vantage point: a table positioned directly opposite Shi Fen.
Without a second thought, Luo Feng hopped onto the table. Standing atop it, he adjusted the angle of his phone and found that the view was exceptionally clear, with no blind spots whatsoever. Only then did a triumphant smile appear on his face.
Luo Feng stood on the table, recording the video in silence, not daring to disturb Shi Fen in the slightest. If not for the need to hide his identity as a Spirit Reader, he would have loved to fly into the air to capture the best possible angle.
Fortunately, the shooting angle from the table was remarkably good, causing Luo Feng to abandon that thought.
Shi Fen swung his forging hammer, employing Extreme Forging techniques to work the metal. His spiritual force permeated the metal constantly, sensing every single part of it.
The searing heat of the metal could not interfere with Shi Fen's spiritual force in the least. Relying on his powerful metal-sensing ability, even though this was his first time forging this material, his foundation was so solid that it took only 19 strikes to bring the metal to the pinnacle of the "Hundred-Refined God-Forging Steel" stage. To continue forging further would mean entering the "Rope" pattern stage.
Shi Fen did not continue forging this piece; he placed it into a specialized thermal insulation box beside him to prevent it from cooling too rapidly.
He took out another piece of Blue Gold and continued the "hundred refinements" process. Once all six pieces of metal had been forged to the peak of "hundred refinements," Shi Fen placed them all back into the furnace, waiting quietly for them to reach the optimal temperature.
Shi Fen stood silently before the furnace, motionless, like a puppet. The other "puppet," Luo Feng, stood on the table, not daring to take a full breath, quietly acting as a human statue recording the footage.
When the six metal pieces turned golden once more, Shi Fen removed them and stacked them neatly. He exerted his "full strength," swinging the hammer vertically in a continuous rhythm. The metal pillar formed by the six pieces was compressed repeatedly, the blocks squeezing against one another until they gradually fused into a single entity.
Once they were completely unified, Shi Fen used pattern-steel forging techniques to subtly adjust the internal atomic order of the metal, condensing them into a "thick rope" while simultaneously adjusting the metal's texture, making micro-adjustments toward the direction of the pre-designed pattern.
Shi Fen swung his hammer continuously, striking the metal block before him as it constantly changed shape.
Inside the Forging Room, a rhythmic musical movement of "ding-ding-dang-dang" rang out.
After the initial forging was complete, Shi Fen cut away the excess parts, re-cut them into several pieces, and adjusted their arrangement to refine the sequence of the patterns on the metal surface. After heating and arranging them, Shi Fen continued to forge.
Shi Fen forged with "great effort," and after several rounds of cutting, welding, and forging, it took nearly two hours for the rough, rudimentary shape of the battle blade to be "laboriously" completed.
Looking at the weapon blank before him, Shi Fen felt quite frustrated. If not for Luo Feng recording, which prevented him from using his full strength, he could have finished it in half the time. As it stood, he had been forced to grind away for nearly two hours using only the strength of a prospective martial artist.
Fortunately, his technique was solid, and no issues arose.
He set down the forging hammer, took a chisel in his left hand and a small hammer in his right, and carefully carved the blood grooves onto the surface of the weapon blank.
A dozen minutes later, the weapon blank was completely forged!
He placed the finished weapon blank into the furnace for the final, most critical heating.
Once the target temperature was reached, he immediately removed the blank and carefully applied a thin layer of specialized clay to the blade, leaving only the edge exposed. Shi Fen had performed this step countless times during his Qualification Trial; it had become muscle memory.
Though he appeared cautious with every step, his hands were actually quite nimble. Before the weapon blank could even begin to cool, Shi Fen had already finished the "clay coating" process.
Using specialized tongs, Shi Fen gripped the end of the blade's handle and used the lifting device to quickly hoist the blank via the overhead track to a position above the quenching pool.
He stood by the edge of the pool, carefully observing the temperature changes of the blade blank.
Once the temperature of the blank dropped to a certain level, Shi Fen immediately operated the hoist, slowly lowering the still-scorching blade into the water. The moment the blank touched the surface, a "hissing" quenching sound erupted instantly.
Luo Feng stared at the blade in the pool, feeling incredibly tense. He focused all his effort on controlling his breathing, fearing that a heavy breath might affect Shi Fen's judgment. The hand holding his phone to record was trembling slightly.
Luo Feng was now like a "performance art statue"; despite trembling with excitement and nervousness, he dared not move.
Shi Fen had told him that the quenching step was the most critical.
If Shi Fen could perfectly master the timing of the quenching, he could forge a perfect blade, fully utilizing the properties of the Blue Gold to create a "divine weapon." If the timing was off, the power of the blade would be greatly diminished.
This was Shi Fen's first time forging Blue Gold, and he had no certainty in his heart; he could only give it his absolute all!
Time passed, and under their tense gazes, the blade blank finally cooled completely.
Shi Fen hoisted the blade from the water and moved it along the track to his side. He reached out impatiently, and the moment his fingertips touched the blade edge, a triumphant smile immediately spread across his face.
"It's done!" Shi Fen reached out and gave Luo Feng a thumbs-up, saying proudly.
Luo Feng was stunned, not knowing what Shi Fen meant, and hurriedly asked, "How close is it to the estimated perfect level?"
"I estimate it's at about 94 percent of the perfect level, much better than I expected," Shi Fen replied.
Luo Feng was dumbfounded. "94? Doesn't that mean it's even higher than the projected level?!!!" Luo Feng blinked his eyes gently and broke into a grin.
Luo Feng couldn't be bothered to record anymore; he scrambled excitedly toward Shi Fen and, holding his phone in one hand, gave Shi Fen—who was wearing a heat-resistant suit—a massive hug. The sturdy suit was visibly deformed by Luo Feng's immense strength.
Noticing the deformation of the suit, Shi Fen's mouth twitched. He pushed Luo Feng away in disgust, wincing as he said, "Take it easy! This suit is worth way more than your battle blade. It cost over eight million; I can't afford a second one."
Upon hearing the words "over eight million," Luo Feng felt a sudden jolt in his heart. He subconsciously released Shi Fen and retreated a few steps, looking wary.
"Over eight million??" Luo Feng asked in shock.
"Yes," Shi Fen said concisely. Shi Fen touched the deformed part of the suit, channeling his spiritual force into it to check for any substantial damage. Fortunately, the suit was fine; it was only slightly warped.
"It's... not broken, right..." Luo Feng's voice trembled slightly as he asked cautiously.
Luo Feng was genuinely terrified. Although he had the 1 million given to him by Zhou Huayang and had moved into a detached villa in the Bright Moon Residential District, he truly couldn't afford to pay for that.
"It's fine. The outer heat-resistant layer is just slightly deformed. The deformation is within the normal range; it won't be an issue." Shi Fen's words acted like a sedative, completely calming Luo Feng's tense heart.
Shi Fen teased, "As expected of a suit worth over eight million, even your freakish strength didn't break it. Tsk tsk, at this quality, it might actually last a decade or so."
Luo Feng let out a deep breath and scanned the suit carefully, confirming that Shi Fen wasn't joking, and said, "Well, the price is there for a reason. But you're really rich. How come I feel like even if I become a martial artist, my earning power won't be as high as yours?"
Shi Fen faced Luo Feng with a smile on his face. "Haha, if I were to forge with my full strength, you might really struggle to keep up with me."
"Ruthless," Luo Feng replied.
Seeing that he wouldn't have to pay for damages, Luo Feng felt a wave of relief. He held up his phone, aimed it at the blade blank hanging by the water tank, and filmed it from every angle. "Is my blade done with this?"
"There are still a few steps left, but we'll definitely finish everything today. However, I need to re-forge the Blue Gold I cut off earlier, otherwise it'll go to waste. How about I use those scraps to make you a dissection dagger?" Shi Fen said.
Luo Feng's eyes lit up. A dagger would be great; he could control it with his telekinesis to fully utilize his strength as a Spirit Reader. His battle blade was already this powerful, so a dagger forged by Shi Fen certainly wouldn't be bad either.
Luo Feng immediately stopped recording, pulled up a picture of a throwing knife on his phone, and showed it to Shi Fen. "Can you make it in this style? The pattern doesn't matter, just make sure the quality is good," he said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Shi Fen glanced at the picture.
This throwing knife was different from ordinary blades; it was extremely short, thin, and slender, with the handle and blade surfaces almost perfectly flush. This design minimized wind resistance, making it an excellent throwing knife.
Shi Fen knew that Luo Feng had awakened telekinesis, so it was no surprise that he chose this type of knife.
"Simple. This kind of compact dagger can be used as a throwing knife or a dissection blade; it suits you well." Shi Fen did a quick mental calculation of the scrap material and continued, "But there's quite a bit of scrap left. If I only make one, the dagger will be too large. Why don't I make two? They'll be easier for you to handle."
Luo Feng was overjoyed and didn't hesitate for a second. "Whatever you want, anything works. I'll leave it to you."
Inside his heat-resistant suit, Shi Fen couldn't help but roll his eyes, thinking with zero integrity, I'll let you have your way, alright—I'll cover your throwing knives in chrysanthemum patterns!
On his face, however, Shi Fen wore a smile. "Fine."
Thinking about the prank he was about to pull on Luo Feng, Shi Fen practically "bounced" over to the cutting table. With a wide sweep of his hands, he gathered all the scraps and "bounced" over to the furnace, tossing them in to heat up in preparation for forging.
Around 4:30 in the afternoon.
After several hours of intense labor, one battle blade and two throwing knives were completely finished.
The battle blade had a sleek, imposing design. It was deep blue all over, and near the handle on each side of the blade, there was a deep purple mark that looked like a rotating spring. The rest of the blade featured flowing, water-like patterns.
Those two rotating springs looked like bottomless, swirling eyes, sending a chill down anyone's spine.
The blade was 88 centimeters long and 6 centimeters wide, with a total length of 108 centimeters and a weight of exactly 108 kilograms.
At Shi Fen's strong insistence, the blade was named "Deep Spring."
Having been stuck in God's World for too long, Shi Fen needed to vent a little, or he would have gone stir-crazy.
The two throwing knives were simpler, styled exactly like standard-issue throwing knives. The most eye-catching feature was the row of blooming blue "chrysanthemums" etched onto the blades.
When Luo Feng saw the pattern of perfectly uniform blue "chrysanthemums" on the throwing knives, he felt his soul leave his body. He knew clearly that his brother had played a prank on him.
Luo Feng didn't get angry, though. He was mostly just shocked.
He never imagined that scraps could be forged into such perfect throwing knives. It wasn't just the knives; the patterns on both sides of "Deep Spring" looked almost identical at a glance—it was too perfect. If he hadn't been filming and watching the entire process, Luo Feng would have suspected that Shi Fen had used a machine to print the designs.
In reality, the patterns were forged by Shi Fen's own hands.
After testing the blade himself, Luo Feng was even more stunned. The blade felt like an extension of his own body; it was incredibly comfortable to wield.
"A masterpiece among men!" Luo Feng exclaimed sincerely.
Luo Feng was extremely satisfied, but Shi Fen kept picking at his own work, reviewing the forging process to identify where problems had occurred and summarizing his shortcomings.
Overall, Shi Fen was fairly satisfied; after all, this was his first time forging Blue Gold for real.
"Deep Spring is decent."
That was Shi Fen's objective assessment.
After all, Shi Fen hadn't used his full strength. If he had forged it to the "Star Sea Pattern" stage, "Deep Spring" could have been much stronger.
Luo Feng took his three new "toys" to show off to Wei Wen, who was stuck in the Forging Room working on pig iron. Shi Fen, meanwhile, dutifully cleaned up the workshop.
The three of them had agreed to go out for a meal that night.
After some rowdy fun, they each headed home.
Under Shi Fen's intense "threats," Luo Feng paid him 300,000 for the material processing fee.
Since Shi Fen had benefited from Luo Feng's resources and kept 80 kilograms of Blue Gold for himself, he felt embarrassed and disdained to ask for more; 300,000 roughly covered the total cost of the day's materials.
When forging blades for his own brother, there was no need to charge any extra "processing fees."
