Interrogation
Thanks to Fran and Velint's efforts, Una finally realized that in this area, no matter how much she shouted, no one would come to save her.
Her eyes trembled as she looked at the two of them, her lips were pale, and her throat was dry and itchy.
"The first question is, how did you obtain the Divine Water?"
During their previous intelligence gathering, the two of them learned that the locals called the Dragon-Transformation Potion "Divine Water," and to save time, they simply called it "Divine Water" as well.
Una's face was filled with fear, but she was desperately telling herself that she had to answer their two questions to survive, and she forced herself to answer.
"We usually give the places to those who have them during the monthly celebration; the priests distribute them."
How are the spots determined?
"Some... acted bravely, hunting down ferocious Magic Creature outside the city; others were chosen by the priests, selected by the gods."
"Do you know where those Divine Water are kept?"
"The priests said it was in the Divine Revelation Hall... I don't know anything else, we can't get in."
Fran turned her head and smiled smugly at Velint, as if to say, 'See? I told you my method worked.'
Velint turned her head away helplessly. She really hadn't expected this method to work. In the Trial she usually participated in, there were very few humans from the Spirit Realm. She hadn't really thought of it.
"Tell me what you know about the priest here." The quest description mentions a priest who brought this magical water, so it's essential to understand the priest's background.
"Which High Priest are you asking about?" Una countered.
This puzzled the two; were there other priests who hadn't been mentioned in the quest description?
Fran quickly inquired and obtained the following information:
It turns out that the priest who created the Divine Water later felt that it would be difficult for him to manage the entire city on his own, so he promoted some of those who performed exceptionally well after using the Divine Water to become priests.
These priests were in charge of some unimportant matters on behalf of that priest, and to distinguish him by his title, he was renamed High Priest.
After that, for reasons unknown, the High Priest selected two more priests from among himself, who could also be addressed as High Priest.
The other two are addressed as High Priest of Angmar and High Priest of Rune, respectively. The High Priest still refers to himself as High Priest, while the other two are distinguished by adding "High Priest" to their original names.
Una didn't know the High Priest's name; she had been called the High Priest since birth, and the two High Priest had only been promoted six years ago.
After hearing all the information above, Fran pondered for a moment, and then said:
"We have enough information. Let's go check out that Divine Revelation Hall now."
"So soon? Aren't you going to wait until tonight?"
"No need. The guards are currently searching for us Spirit Realm Traveler outside the city. If we go now, we might be able to find a gap in the enemy's defenses."
After thinking about it for a moment, Velint finally agreed. She didn't have any skills that could only be used at night, and Fran's words made sense. If the two of them launched a surprise attack now, they might be able to catch the other side off guard.
"Oh, right!" Just as she was about to reach the door, Fran suddenly turned around and came to Una's side, startling her and making her feel relieved again.
"I have one last question: why is this place so dilapidated, and why are there no guards patrolling here?"
Una found it strange that Fran would ask this question, but after hesitating for a moment, she answered it anyway.
"Because we are... are 'those punished by God,' having committed acts of offense against God ourselves or our families, and have been driven here, unable to return to our original place."
Fran smiled and then said to Velint:
"Alright, let's go."
In the prison of Monsa City, several unfamiliar faces arrived, dressed in strange clothes, covered in wounds, and almost all of them were brought in unconscious.
"Luka, have all those foreign guards been captured?" The speaker's tone was commanding, devoid of any respect.
After Luka threw the two Spirit Realm Traveler into the cell, he heard these words and frowned.
He turned his head, looked at the newcomer, and slowly said:
"Priest Tors... The guards only captured a portion of the outsiders; at least half are still outside."
Priest Tors was very dissatisfied with this result and said:
"What are the guards doing? This is the High Priest of Angmar's order, why didn't you carry it out properly?"
"Priest Tors, watch your words. The guard was personally established by His Highness the High Priest, and we..." Luka replied.
Luka responded with a sneer, and then said:
"High Priest... how many days has it been since you last saw the High Priest? Why are you bringing him up again...?"
Luka, without being humble or arrogant, replied:
"The High Priest has simply gone to investigate the surrounding area with High Priest Rune; he will return soon."
"Not long!" Tors's face beamed. "It's been almost two weeks, and we still haven't seen them. Even the search party sent out by High Priest Angmar couldn't find them. You're probably the last person in Monsa who still wants these two back."
"Let me tell you, kneel down now and imitate the howls of the pack animals outside. I might be able to put in a good word for you with the High Priest. If you don't hurry, the High Priest..."
"Enough, Tors. Wait for the High Priest of Angmar to give the order. I'll wait for that day."
Finally, Luka, unable to bear it any longer, had a verbal altercation with Tors. He knew he shouldn't have acted that way, but he couldn't tolerate Thors addressing Angmar by his full name, calling him High Priest.
"Hmph!" Tors turned and left. "Then you can continue your work. The Divine Revelation Hall doesn't need a guard anymore."
"You?!!"
Luka never expected that the other party would dare to make such a decision. After all Divine Revelation Hall is a very important place and a key defensive position for the guards.
If he were to drive the entire guard out, it would undoubtedly signify a break with Tors, and he would then face even more pressure from others to force him to relinquish his position.
"What if the Divine Revelation Hall is invaded by those outsiders?" Luka almost roared, and at the same time, he felt a chill in his heart. These people were fighting for power here just because the High Priest had temporarily disappeared.
"It's alright. I can handle those outsiders on my own." He already knew what kind of outsiders they were before he even came.
Although he could defeat ordinary guards, he could only run away when facing Luka.
Confident that his strength was no less than Luka's, he was naturally not afraid of these invaders.
