Conviction
A loud bang suddenly echoed throughout the entire Gede Town, causing countless people to stop what they were doing and look in the direction from which the sound came.
A red light and thick black smoke rose into the sky, and some people could already identify that the place was Caleb's residence.
Returning to Caleb's home, Caleb, after casting Pyroblast, was about to flee when he saw a thin, pale yellow film in the thick smoke.
A silver longsword pierced through the smoke, allowing Caleb to see the delicate white hand holding it.
"Nothing's wrong? "Caleb wondered, unable to believe what he was seeing.
His Pyroblast is the signature spell of the Elemental School, ranking among the top ten of all First Order Pyroblast, yet it didn't cause the slightest damage to his opponent.
Caleb frowned, not even noticing that the opponent's triggered shield hadn't been broken.
For a fleeting moment, he considered abandoning everything and fleeing, but then he saw an invisible stream of air carrying black mist rushing towards him from within the smoke.
His triggered shield shattered instantly, and the yellow ring on his hand dimmed. He barely dodged by simply tilting his head to the side, but the airflow still left a bloody mark on his face.
"No, why can't my Triggered Shield Spell even stop a basic Wind Blade Art?" Caleb quickly dodged to the side, trying to use the smoke and dust generated by the Pyroblast to cover his tracks.
Caleb didn't know was that Fran, a Artisan capable of making Spell Ring, had specially crafted five Triggered Shield Spell, woven them into a necklace, and hung it around her neck.
Although maintaining five Spell Ring at all times was somewhat of a burden for Fran, the Mental Power from her multiple Profession combined made the consumption negligible.
Furthermore, Fran's Shield Spell can benefit from the Earth Element activation bonus of her trait [Earth Dragon Breath], making the entire shield even more robust.
And so, Fran's three Triggered Shield Spell dimmed, and it wasn't until the fourth shield was activated that the attack was successfully blocked.
"That was close, this robe was almost damaged," Fran thought thankfully.
Fortunately, the trait she gained from hunting the Earth Dragon enhanced her Shield Spell; otherwise, breaking through those five shields would have been a minor issue. She also had [Hardened Scale Rock], which was more than enough to block two Pyroblast.
However, her robe was about to be ruined; it was a robe that Fran had specially treated with a lot of magic when she got it.
It can keep the temperature Coolness, ensure airflow, enhance magic, and so on. The material cost alone was ten Gold Coin for Fran.
Caleb had barely caught his breath in the black mist when he saw what appeared to be the shape of a person reflected in the dark house in the distance. His pupils contracted, and he quickly threw a fireball at it.
The fireball passed through the black mist without causing any damage, and Dante's figure appeared to the side, holding a black sword in his hand, the blade gleaming coldly.
He had just used Invisibility Spell to conceal his body, intending to use it to launch a sneak attack, but he was immediately discovered.
By this time, the black fog had almost completely dissipated, with only a few sparse wisps of black fog slowly rising into the air.
Fran also turned her longsword toward Caleb, her body descending a short distance—the aftershock of the Pyroblast being absorbed by her Shield Spell.
The bricks on the ground were almost completely shattered, and the entire ground seemed to have been lifted up, leaving a scene of devastation.
Dante, beaming with excitement, licked his lips at Caleb; he had never felt so good.
The fact that Caleb attacked them directly speaks volumes. Caleb is definitely involved in something wrong; otherwise, attacking an Investigator would be a serious crime.
He was about to complete the tasks assigned by the four High-Order Mage, and he didn't even dare to imagine what kind of rewards each of them would give him after he finished.
In stark contrast to Dante, Caleb's face was somber, and his right hand trembled uncontrollably.
He wanted to escape, to get away from here, he didn't want to stay here for another second. His emotions were urging him to run away quickly, and that emotion was called fear.
But his rational mind told him that he couldn't run now; running meant certain death. Only by staying and killing one of the two men could he survive.
He could never outrun a Sword Chant School mage who had no burdens; he understood this the moment he saw Dante assume Sword Dance stance.
The atmosphere quieted down, and neither side made a move. Finally, Caleb couldn't hold back any longer and decided to make a move.
He couldn't afford to delay. Once the commotion here attracted other First Order Profession in Gede City, he wasn't confident he could win them over while they were dressed as Investigator.
Fire Wall Spell!
Suddenly, a wall of flames appeared between the two sides. The wall was three meters high, and the towering flames made it impossible for either side to see what was happening on the other side.
Meanwhile, Caleb was behind the wall of fire, preparing another Pyroblast, intending to unleash a devastating Pyroblast when his opponents thought he was trying to escape by raising the fire wall.
The successive instant-cast spells turned his face pale. He knew that if another Pyroblast came, he would probably faint on the spot, so the outcome depended on this Pyroblast.
But things didn't go as he expected. A purple light flew out from the wall of fire, accompanied by a blue-white glow.
The beam of light was too fast, and Caleb was preparing Pyroblast, so he couldn't dodge it at all.
The purple light pierced straight into his chest, the powerful force causing him to stagger backward two steps, almost falling over.
Before he could react, a Cold Air blasted out from his chest, which Caleb, who didn't have Triggered Shield Spell, couldn't withstand at all.
Without Caleb's Mental Power support, the flames on the fire wall suddenly subsided, leaving only a small flame on the ground, radiating a warm temperature.
After the wall of fire was lowered, the law enforcement officers present did not feel any heat, but rather a bone-chilling cold and the fear of being watched by some kind of ferocious beast.
At this moment, Caleb was completely surrounded by ice, with a Purple Shortsword stuck in his chest. Only the hilt was sticking out; the entire blade was embedded in Caleb's body, causing Caleb chest to cave in.
Dante gasped. As a mage, he could recognize the massive ice elemental fluctuations emanating from the Purple Shortsword.
This made him exclaim, "Truly worthy of being a disciple of a Fourth Order Mage, he actually possesses such a powerful weapon."
He gathered his thoughts and began to give the orders:
"Mage Caleb Walker, suspected of plotting to murder a mage and attacking Investigator while they were on duty, is immediately detained for magical interrogation..."
