Conflict in the City
Fran looked at the road sign indicating that White Flower City was still two miles away, and hesitated for a moment before stopping by the roadside.
She took off her slightly dusty robe and put on an ordinary black robe.
This time, he bought a pair of thick leather gloves, put on the mask he used in the City of Apprentices, and drank the Voice-Changing Potion he made from materials he bought in Gede Town.
She looked at the bottle of concentrated medicine; it would last her at least a month.
Fran disguised herself as a melee Profession purely on a whim.
He possesses enough strength to disguise himself as a First Order melee Profession.
Having been acting as a mage the whole way, she was getting a little tired of it and wondered if she could pretend to be a melee Profession and see what that would be like.
"As for your identity, just say you're an Adventurer who wants to travel to the Northern Territory."
Fortunately, he possessed many Arts acquired from the Adventurers Guild, making him a true Adventurer in his own right, enough to leave no room for criticism.
"Let's use Elan's name for the name..."
Fran thus happily decided on her identity for the rest of her journey in White Flower City.
Fran mounted her horse, spurred Black Horse, and sent Black Horse galloping at full speed toward White Flower City.
The leg bones of the Gale Rabbit had long been absorbed into the Black Horse's body during these days of exercise. It raised its hooves and galloped across the road at a speed far exceeding that of ordinary horses.
Fran's entry into White Flower City was very smooth; she encountered no obstacles, no one was queuing, and the entire city gate was desolate.
Just as she was entering the city gate, the guard asked her for ten copper coins as an entrance fee. After thinking for a moment, Fran threw ten copper coins into the gate from her purse.
When she used her mage identity, she never paid a single penny when entering any town. But now that she's in a different identity, she's simply following the rules.
She used her Telekinetic Hand to conceal herself under her robes the entire time, without making the sound of coins clinking together, because she didn't want to reveal that she was very wealthy.
But when she saw what happened next, she knew she had miscalculated again.
When she tossed ten copper coins down, the guard looked shocked and quickly bent down to pick them up.
However, he was a step too slow. The two guards next to him saw this and rushed over, crawling on the ground to pick up the copper coins.
Even slower guards came running from a distance. Realizing they couldn't pick up the coins, one of them hardened his heart and punched one of the guards, trying to steal the coins from him.
Fran stared in disbelief at the scene before her. She hadn't expected that throwing down ten copper coins would cause all seven guards at the city gate to rush to grab them.
The scene instantly descended into chaos, with people frequently exchanging blows and kicks, some lying on the ground clutching their copper coins tightly...
Fran was careless; she hadn't realized how expensive learning magic would be. She usually spent money in silver coins, so she subconsciously thought that ten copper coins wouldn't be expensive, but it turned out to be far too much.
She guessed that the guard had only wanted to extort her at first, but he didn't expect her to actually take out ten copper coins.
She held her head and gestured for the Black Horse to move forward.
The Black Horse followed instructions and walked straight ahead, nimbly kicking away two guards who were lying on the ground blocking its way.
Fran raised an eyebrow, ignoring the commotion behind her, and prepared to find a place to stay first.
Since Whiteflower isn't the Alliance territory, it definitely doesn't have a comfortable mage reception area.
It was only because Duke Theodore had breached the city that his guards had done a little 'looting' of it.
This resulted in many houses in the city being empty; theoretically, she could just find any house to live in.
But just as she walked onto a street, one of the few streets in the city where shops were still open for business, she realized that...
Hey buddy!
Fran heard the noise and turned around to see a fierce-looking soldier. His leather armor was tattered and covered in stains of some unknown substance.
Fran looked around a few times before realizing that the soldier was calling her.
"You called me?" Fran asked in a deep male voice.
"Yes, it's you..." The soldier slowly approached her, licking his lips.
"Brother, your horse is amazing!" The soldier drew his dagger, assumed a sword-wielding stance, and moved within five paces of Fran.
"I really envy this Black Horse horse, can I have it?"
The soldier's sudden movement attracted the attention of the surrounding crowd, who all turned to surround the scene, staring at what was happening before them.
The soldier stared greedily at the jet-black horse, not daring to even consider how much it was worth.
He lived a very comfortable life in White Flower City, taking advantage of the fact that his leader was a knight, and robbed a lot of valuable things in White Flower City.
He could tell from the fact that the other person was merely wearing a black robe without any knightly insignia that this was his prey.
Fran stroked the horse's head to calm it down, as the soldier had become agitated by his approach, urging it not to kick him to death.
Fran turned her head and said with a smile:
"That won't do. I paid for this horse myself. If you can't afford it, I don't want to sell it."
"Oh—" the soldier drawled. "You really love this horse, what a pity..."
The soldier's face grew even more ferocious, revealing a crazed expression. He lunged forward and stabbed at Fran's thin leg.
He had seen many people so reluctant to part with their possessions, but in the end, they were all defeated by him, someone who had only used the Body Tempering Method a couple of times. Furthermore, the dagger in his hand was made of refined iron, piercing through their armor...
This time, however, it encountered a tough opponent.
When his sharp dagger pierced Fran's leg, it seemed to have struck something indestructible; upon impact, the entire dagger snapped in two.
The soldier was somewhat taken aback by the scene before him. He was still holding half a dagger and was about to look up when he felt a sense of weightlessness.
Fran swiftly swooped down, grabbed the soldier by the rough collar, and lifted him into the air.
The soldier only now realized that he had encountered a formidable opponent. Putting aside everything else, the fact that he could lift someone up with one hand was something the soldier himself would find difficult to do.
He instinctively tried to struggle in the air, but in the blink of an eye, a leather glove shot towards his eyes.
The soldier's body was sent flying three meters away, landing heavily on the ground. His entire head was a bloody mess, and his neck looked broken, twisted at a bizarre angle.
Fran's gloves were still dripping blood. She had deliberately relaxed her other hand and reduced the force slightly to avoid blowing the other person's head off; she had only sent him flying.
Nevertheless, the soldier was beyond dead; his spine was most likely broken, which meant certain death in an environment where even a minor injury was difficult to treat.
