Tug-of-War
Fran was unaware of what the soldier was thinking, but she herself understood perfectly well.
The main purpose of these minions on the field is to block a few attacks for their own knight. If they can cause even a little bit of trouble for the enemy knight, they have done a great service.
In the end, only one knight can emerge victorious, so these followers will be her enemies no matter what. It's not unreasonable for her to eliminate these smaller soldiers first, is it?
Fran immediately reined in her horse and turned towards another cyborg still on horseback, despite the soldiers beside her urging the cyborg to accelerate and escape.
None of them could compare to Fran, the Black Horse that had undergone several modifications and enhancements. Almost instantly, Fran appeared behind the modified man, and a crimson longsword plunged directly into the back of his neck.
The spectators in the stands witnessed this brutal scene and began to comment, with the minor nobleman who had previously been skeptical of Fran starting to speak again.
"If I were him, I wouldn't so rashly kill the opponent's follower directly. Although it would deprive the opponent of their follower's assistance, it would also draw fire to myself."
"Look, Knight Eric and Cliff seem to have huddled together and discussed it. I bet they saw that guy sweeping through the followers and are thinking of dealing with him first."
"That was reckless. If I were him, I would first team up with the other two to put pressure on the other side, instead of just having everyone..."
After continuing the chase for a while, Eric discovered that his two armored followers were lying on the ground groaning, seemingly having lost almost all fighting ability.
This is a powerful enchanted iron armor that I specially acquired; how could it have been cut in half like this?
Eric was somewhat incredulous at first glance. He had personally tested this armor, and even he, without using his full strength, would find it difficult to inflict significant damage.
All his hard work was destroyed almost instantly, and even his flattering movements slowed down slightly.
This enraged him, and he almost instantly spotted Fran, who was charging forward and slashing the cyborg to death with her sword.
But he still retained some rationality at this moment. He approached Knight Cliff and explained the next steps to him.
"Go and take care of that guy first, otherwise he might interfere with us if he's alive. I'll hold off their attacks."
Eric wanted to charge straight at Fran and give Fran a good beating, but after thinking about it, he decided to let Cliff do it instead.
Because he was fully equipped with heavy armor, his defense was outstanding, but his agility was correspondingly much worse.
Even with the horse now having consumed another enhancement potion, increasing its speed, the immense inertia from the equipment was something the horse couldn't easily overcome.
If he were to pursue Fran now, Fran could delay him for a considerable amount of time, provided she was even slightly agile on horseback.
Therefore, sending Cliff is the most suitable option. His horse is not under much strain, and it is a steppe warhorse, known for its explosive power. Sending Cliff to quickly deal with Fran is the best choice.
Cliff knew the situation was tricky; if they let Fran cause trouble, they wouldn't win the battle. So he immediately spurred his horse around and charged towards Fran.
The spectators on the platform, witnessing this scene, also became excited and speculated:
"Cliff has made his move; it seems he'll have to deal with that guy on the Black Horse horse first..."
"If he ignores everything and runs away, he might be able to buy some more time and give Finley and the others a chance."
"Huh? He didn't dodge, he actually went straight at him?!"
From the very beginning, the people on the platform were not optimistic about Fran. They knew better than anyone else just how strong a knight was, and that it was definitely not something an Order could contend with.
So when they saw Fran not only not dodge the attack, but instead directly meet it head-on, they had already sentenced Fran to death in their minds.
Only Maeve, standing to the side, wore an expectant expression; she knew that Fran's Black Horse horse was no ordinary person...
When Cliff saw that Fran not only did not avoid him but charged directly at him, a cold smile flashed across his face. He raised his lance, which was made from Volcanic Scrap Iron, and continued his march without stopping.
The two sides clashed like cavalry, slightly shifting their positions to attack the enemy from the sides.
Fran faced the lance and immediately used the very effective Sunflame, this time also adding the Combat Technique [Sunflame Slash].
The once indestructible Sunflame, upon encountering the Volcanic Scrap Iron, surprisingly caused Fran to feel a long-lost sense of resistance. However, this resistance was so slight that it had no effect on the outcome whatsoever.
Cliff felt as if his weapon had become much lighter, and before he could wonder why it had become like this, he suddenly felt his horse shaking violently.
Just as the two were about to pass each other, and as its hooves were in the air, the Black Horse stomped its hoof on the warhorse of the grassland.
The sudden attack from the side almost caused the grassland warhorse to lose its balance and fall to the side.
Fortunately, at the crucial moment, Cliff used his superb skills to stop the prairie horse, which gradually regained its balance.
"Woo!!!" The grassland warhorse let out a painful roar, then, enduring the burning pain in its side, it bared its teeth at the Black Horse.
Its bloodline enraged it at the attack, and it was determined to rush forward and avenge its humiliation.
But Sir Cliff stopped him, looking at the broken lance in his hand; the other half lay motionless on the ground.
At this moment, a strange feeling welled up in Cliff Cliff's heart: fear.
He was now somewhat afraid of the opponent's glowing red Arts; even his own lance, made from Volcanic Scrap Iron, could be sliced in two as easily as cutting tofu.
He wasn't sure if his armor and his flesh and blood could withstand such an attack.
In the past, even when facing the much stronger Lord of White Flower Territory, he never felt this way, because his armor would block most of the attacks, and he didn't have to worry about being killed in one hit.
The lance in his hand was something that, no matter what the opponent did, could only bend at most; he only needed to find a suitable Artisan to repair it after the battle.
But faced with an attack that could slice special metal in two in an instant, he was terrified, afraid that such an attack would fall on his head.
