Basic Test
Three days later, Fran participated in the basic training that Zane had mentioned.
Actually, this basic training is nothing special; it's just to help newly arrived Battle Mage adapt to the environment and train their ability to withstand interference.
Furthermore, as long as you pass Zane's three tests, you can skip the basic training and directly become a member of the Battle Mage Corps.
The mages present were all arrogant and proud. It was almost as if Zane had just begun his basic training, only giving him a brief instruction on the precautions for casting spells in battle.
He saw that he and the five people with connections raised their hands almost simultaneously, requesting to be tested.
Despite his extreme reluctance, he followed the rules and led the five mages to the designated testing area.
His original thought was that if he could just stay here and mentor these five people with connections for a month or two, it would be much easier for him, and these people might run away by then.
However, he also knew that these monks definitely didn't like this monotonous life and would try every means to become official members.
But it doesn't matter. He knows that this kind of test is not easy to pass. Perhaps some of them can pass one or two tests this time, but it is difficult to pass them all on the first try.
Normally, it would take at least a month for a mage to pass these three tests and become a member of the Battle Mage Corps, and that would be considered fast.
In reality, approximately 10% pass the test in the first month, 40% pass the test in the second month, and 30% pass the test in the third month.
Another 20% have not passed the test for three months. Some of them will be given a chance to be promoted based on the number of tests they pass, while the rest will be kicked out of the Battle Mage Corps.
It's good to broaden the horizons of these people with connections, so they don't think they're invincible and cause themselves a lot of trouble.
"What are Captain Zane doing in the testing room with those mages? I don't recall our guild recruiting any new members recently."
"Right? Where did these newcomers come from? It's not time for the group's assessment yet, is it?"
As they traveled, several mages dressed in Battle Mage armor looked at the group, pointing and whispering, unsure of where they came from.
"I heard they were all 'introduced' here."
Suddenly, a monk spoke up. His voice wasn't loud, but the group's Mental Power far exceeded that of ordinary people, so they could naturally hear him.
"No wonder! I was wondering why I hadn't seen them before! Turns out they were 'introduced' in."
"But there are too few of these people. Why don't the higher-ups 'introduce' more people? Our regiment is desperately short-staffed."
These Battle Mage seemed unfriendly to those who had gotten in through connections; their words and actions were full of criticism, and their gazes towards them were extremely unfriendly.
Fran raised an eyebrow, ignoring them, while the accompanying mage also held back his anger and remained silent.
Zane, who was walking ahead, nodded in satisfaction, thankful that these 'ancestors' weren't the type to get worked up over a few words.
Soon after, Zane led everyone into the testing room. He turned around, pointed to the room that had been carpeted in silver-gray, and said:
"That's the testing location. Let me explain what these three tests are."
"The first test is an attack power test, which requires the test taker to incapacitate three test dummies within three seconds."
"The second test is the interference resistance test, which requires the test taker to cast a specified spell under interference."
"The third test is the target test, which requires the test taker's spells to hit a designated target."
Then, without giving a long explanation, Zane led everyone directly to the location of the first test and asked:
Who wants to go first?
The group of mages looked at each other, and finally Dylan raised his hand first and said:
"I'll do it."
Dylan entered the testing room, Zane closed the door from the outside. There was a glass panel on the outside that allowed people outside to see what was happening inside.
Dylan was a little nervous, and only after Zane asked him three times if he was ready did Dylan answer that he was.
"Please note that the three puppets do not appear at the same time. The next puppet will only appear after you defeat the previous one, and the time will reset each time a puppet appears."
Zane then explained the specific rules in detail, making Dylan even more nervous.
Only after Zane asked again to confirm did he press the start button.
A doll draped in tattered cloth descended from the sky and landed directly in front of Zane. The cloth on the doll could block a certain amount of attacks, preventing the tester from harming the doll with some apprentice spells.
The fabric above can be repaired, which is why this material is being tested.
As the doll fell, Dylan immediately activated the Spell Ring on his hand, raised his hand and waved it in the direction of the doll, sending yellow particles flying into the air.
Although the yellow particles were tiny, their power was disproportionate to their appearance. The moment the yellow particles touched the doll, the fabric on the doll dented.
This is First Order Alchemy School spell, [Heavy Sand], which releases a large number of tiny, heavy particles that directly kill enemies.
Because the requirement was to inflict sufficient damage on the doll within three seconds, Dylan had to activate his Spell Ring to cast spells quickly.
But this is the only Spell Ring he has...
The second puppet was then thrown down from the ceiling. This time, Dylan immediately realized that it was too late to use a powerful First Order spell, so he could only throw a fireball.
The fireball struck the doll, and the shockwave from the explosion knocked it to the ground. However, the countdown did not stop at all, and it reached midnight as Dylan looked on in disappointment.
Seeing Dylan's dejected figure, Fran understood the purpose of this test.
The purpose was actually to test whether mages could deliver powerful attacks. Any mage could cast spells while standing behind everyone, but a fast and powerful attack was something not every mage could do.
The three puppets are used to test whether the mage has the ability to strike three times in a row. If you do, you've passed the test.
Of course, if you're really rich, you can just take three First Order Spell Ring and start testing three instant-cast spells. Money is also a part of strength.
However, it was clear that none of the people present were that wealthy, or rather, they had spent their money on defensive spells and probably only had one Spell Ring.
