No Way to Play Anymore
If the previous group of the Spirit Realm Profession were like someone playing a game and finding that their character's performance was too weak to play, so they had no choice but to give up.
When this second-tier guard captain arrived and asked them to come along, it gave them the bewildering feeling that they hadn't done anything, but had inexplicably moved the plot forward.
Almost all of their Spirit Realm Traveler had been gathered together by the Spirit Realm Traveler was acting as a guard; only a few were still outside.
Judging from the level of the others, they didn't think these people could do anything significant in the city, but this Second Stage captain still came to find them, looking very anxious.
So here's the question: they had no chance of doing it, so why did the major events in the Trial happen?
None of the Spirit Realm Profession present understood what was happening. Weren't the specific events in the Spirit Realm Trial supposed to be triggered actively by these Trial participants?
How come something so big happened all of a sudden when they hadn't done anything? It was because one of the guards, who was colluding with the Demon, was exposed.
This was no small matter, especially after a group of Spirit Realm Traveler had gone there specifically to gather intelligence; they were all completely overwhelmed.
This is an enclosed walled area, and inside the wall is all Demon material. Of course, this Demon material isn't necessarily inanimate...
It's unclear what that person did after ' Lai ' left, but now quite a few Demon inside the walls have come back to life and, when gathered together, form a considerable force.
The Spirit Realm Traveler cast a few ranged spells from behind to help the guards clear out all the Demon that were still moving. Afterwards, they looked at the scene inside and were even more at a loss.
"Damn it, you actually work for the Demon, letting those who collude with the Demon do things here that are detrimental to everyone in our city. You should be just like these Demon lying here..."
A Second Order Profession User swiftly beheaded the person in charge of the area and several guards responsible for moving things, leaving a trail of blood on the ground.
"This place can no longer be used to dispose of this garbage. We'll find another place, and burn this place down..."
The second-tier captain gave a brief order and arranged how to handle the situation. The group of the Spirit Realm Profession did not know the specifics of the matter, and since the second-tier captain was very prestigious among the guards, no one dared to stop him.
They strolled around the area, and some Spirit Realm Profession tried to do some petty theft, but were knocked down by the guards with a single punch.
The guards were very well-equipped; in a one-on-one situation, probably few Spirit Realm Profession could defeat them.
"Drag all those who collude with the Demon to the square and hang them, so the people can see the fate of those who conspire with the Demon."
The other Spirit Realm Traveler remained silent as they watched their companion's miserable state, as if they didn't know him, and Siena was no exception.
Even though Siena and this companion had been chatting quite enthusiastically before, and Sienna had offered many suggestions on how to complete the mission...
"We are short of qualified soldiers. If you are willing, go to the port. We welcome you anytime."
The second-tier captain uttered those words in a flurry and left, leaving the group of the Spirit Realm Profession, who had expected something to happen, stunned in place.
"What do we do now?" No one answered him.
None of them knew what had happened, how this person who colluded with the Demon had appeared, how they had been discovered, or whether the second-tier captain had really killed so many people—they knew no details whatsoever.
"So, should we follow this trail and investigate this so-called Demon undercover agent?"
When you give these people a choice, especially a not-so-good one, their willingness to respond increases significantly.
"Of course we're not going. We can't even beat the soldiers there, and we can't do anything we want. Didn't you see that guy was about to be hanged?"
Should we go and rescue him?
"No, I think the Spirit Realm will give him a chance, perhaps a powerful Demon will suddenly appear during his imprisonment..."
"What if it doesn't? The Spirit Realm doesn't always do that, does it?"
"Then I can only wish him good luck."
In short, most of the Spirit Realm Profession, including Siena, have decided not to participate in this Trial.
Inside a somewhat dimly lit basement in the city.
"The location we originally planned to visit was discovered. How did you manage to protect it?"
The room was dimly lit, only revealing the general outlines of each person. A man in black raised his arm and pointed to someone in another corner whose face was not clearly visible.
"I couldn't stop her, so I had to give up there for now."
The man in black gave a cold reply.
"Unstoppable? That's impossible. Don't think I don't know; even among those guard captains, few are a match for you."
"Those who managed to escape from you now all have important responsibilities; there's no reason for them to suddenly discover the place where Demon corpses were disposed of."
"Stop arguing, maybe these people just happened to have some free time?"
A man in black tried to mediate the conflict between the two, but neither of them was willing to cooperate.
"First of all, that person wasn't any of the guard captains; he was someone who suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I suspect he's part of the same group as those dozen First Order Profession who suddenly appeared in the city."
"They just popped up out of nowhere, do you think Tier 2 is as common as cabbage..."
The man in black who had started the accusation wanted to continue, but he stopped when he saw his companions all looking at him.
"Alright, things have come to this. The most important thing now is how to salvage the situation. The place we originally planned to sublimate is no longer available. Are there any other places?"
"I can provide it; it's in a warehouse by the port. You can go and take a look for yourselves..."
"Well, what a pity. We could have ascended to the place where these soldiers fought to the bitter end, placing their last hope in their hearts. That would have infused our Demon bodies with a great deal of intense emotion."
"We've lost our chance. If we want to stay in that place, there's no way we can keep it from those captains and Lord Wesley any longer..."
When Wesley was mentioned, the men in black at the scene twitched the corners of their clothes; clearly, the name was indeed somewhat frightening to them.
"Wesley won't have time to come looking for us; after all, he still has to venture deep into the Demon's Mouth, where a third-tier Demon is waiting for him..."
"That third-tier Demon made a deal with us long ago. If we can help it plunge this city into despair, then it will help us..."
Just then, one of the men in black couldn't help but ask directly:
"By the way, what Order will the Demon we'll be transforming into be? Will we have to serve under that Demon Demon we're transformed?"
One of the most senior men in black answered his question.
"Don't worry, we'll all become Tier 3..."
Siena found a three-story building in the city and met with several Spirit Realm Traveler she had arranged to use it to build defensive measures.
She picked up two bundles of straw from a small cart and carried them inside the house.
She obtained these Gold Coin from the market; incidentally, these Gold Coin were given to her by the wealthy merchant.
"This Spirit Realm is so bad at building Gold Coin system! I went back and forth carrying ten cartloads of straw, and they only want two Gold Coin from me."
In the Material Realm, even a thousand cartloads of straw wouldn't be worth as much as a Gold Coin. This shows that the currency simulated in the Spirit Realm is truly absurd.
"Hehe, that's how the Spirit Realm is. It doesn't bother to simulate copper and silver coins for you, so the lowest level of currency here is Gold Coin."
"Isn't this ridiculous? I now truly believe that the city lord here can casually pull out thousands of Gold Coin to hire such a large number of guards..."
"Even if they could come up with that many Gold Coin, given the current prices, it wouldn't be just a few Gold Coin; it would require six Gold Coin to hire someone..."
While Siena was chatting with her companions on the second floor, she suddenly saw a Spirit Realm Traveler walking downstairs.
Logically speaking, this is quite normal. After all, Spirit Realm Traveler are constantly moving around the city, so it's reasonable for her to suddenly see one. It's even possible that this Spirit Realm Traveler is looking for them.
Not only Siena, but the other Spirit Realm Traveler also changed their expressions.
"What are you doing here? Didn't the guards give you a hanging?"
They all recognized this Spirit Realm Traveler; he was the one who wanted to search the scene but was caught by the guards, and whose Trial was about to end.
But what's going on? Based on their understanding of that guard, it's unlikely they would just let him go; they would have to keep him locked up for at least a few days.
The Spirit Realm Traveler gave a wry smile, then slowly explained:
"Thanks to this friend, she saved my life. Like us, she is Spirit Realm Traveler."
The group looked behind him and saw a tall woman with a smile on her face.
"Hello, I'd like to contact you to ask about something."
"As you know, she wasn't with us at the time, so she wanted to find out some things from us. I wasn't arrested, so she wanted to come to you to learn more..."
"I see? Then feel free to ask." Siena nodded.
If it were a normal Trial, Siena would definitely not answer any questions unless offered Spirit Crystal or other rewards.
After all, the information they gathered during the Trial was something they had worked very hard to obtain.
But this Trial is different. For some reason Trial, the Spirit Realm has gone mad, and they are completely unable to do anything.
"Actually, there's not much to say. The guards and Demon here Order all too powerful; we simply can't defeat them..."
' Lai ' blinked, not surprised by the Spirit Realm Traveler's sigh, because that was the situation; judging from the enemies she had encountered, these people truly had no chance.
"No, I actually want to know more about that captain of the guard."
"You still want to continue this Trial?" Siena asked, somewhat surprised.
' Lai ' slowly explained:
"My Trial requirements are relatively low; I think I can still complete it."
"I see... Actually, if you want to learn more about those guard units, you can join them directly. They're currently recruiting Profession..."
' Lai ' noted this information down, and then asked what was special about the place where the Demon corpses were disposed of.
After receiving no response, ' Lai ' sprayed directly at the guards.
Of course, she didn't want to fight the Demon for the city; she just wanted to find out what information those who colluded with the Demon had.
She was extremely curious about information related to the Abyss.
