After this mission, Kamizuki felt for the first time that his experience and the world he had seen were still far too limited. There were so many schemes he couldn't fathom; he was still too green. Indeed, no matter what world one is in, learning is a lifelong endeavor!
Following the death of Kato Taichi, the Genma Team was short one member. The higher-ups ordered them to take a week off to recuperate, promising to assign a new teammate the following week.
Today was the first day of their break. Kamizuki wanted to find a secluded place to cultivate in peace for a few days, so he thought of the cave where he had received Hamura's Inheritance: the Firefly Cave.
Once the thought took hold, he acted on it. Kamizuki first found Hiashi and gave him a brief explanation. Hiashi was aware of what the team had been through and that Kamizuki had lost a companion, so he didn't say much and approved Kamizuki's request for closed-door cultivation.
Kamizuki arrived alone at the beautiful Rose Lake once more. As he gazed at the pink water, his mood gradually began to unfurl and relax.
After sitting quietly by the beautiful pink lake for a while, Kamizuki prepared to enter the mysterious Firefly Cave that had granted him his inheritance.
Standing by the water's edge, Kamizuki raised his hands and performed a series of hand seals with lightning speed. He then pressed his left hand lightly against the pink surface of the lake and muttered, "Reverse Summoning Jutsu!"
Rings of seal-like runes appeared on the surface of the lake. As the runes fully manifested, with a loud "Poof!", Kamizuki vanished from the lakeside.
"Reverse Summoning Jutsu": A standard summoning jutsu involves the user utilizing their own chakra to summon a contracted creature from the summoning realm. The Reverse Summoning Jutsu, however, is a more advanced technique that uses the user's chakra to transport the user themselves, or other living beings, into the summoning realm.
Kamizuki had discovered this method of entering the Firefly Cave within Hamura's Inheritance.
What baffled Kamizuki was why the method to enter the Firefly Cave required the Reverse Summoning Jutsu. Could it be that the Firefly Cave existed within a summoning realm?
In the blink of an eye, Kamizuki was back inside the Firefly Cave. In truth, when he first arrived here, he had been teleported out by Hamura immediately after receiving the inheritance. He hadn't fully explored the cave, and there were many secrets he remained unaware of—things he couldn't have learned from the inheritance alone.
This time, the Reverse Summoning Jutsu deposited him exactly in the cavern where he had previously found the wooden chest containing the inheritance.
Scanning the cavern, Kamizuki found it empty; the large wooden chest was gone.
Kamizuki walked out of the cavern. Outside, the scene remained as brilliant as a galaxy, with countless stars like those in the vast universe illuminating the entire cave system like a dreamscape.
While admiring the fantastical scenery, Kamizuki headed toward the depths of the cave that he had yet to explore. He intended to fully investigate this dream-like Firefly Cave before beginning his cultivation.
Kamizuki walked for some time. Looking at the starlit interior, he felt as though he were standing in the vast, boundless universe, giving him the illusion that he could rule over the cosmos itself.
As he walked, Kamizuki arrived at the entrance of a cave within a cave. He sensed an inexplicable aura radiating strongly from within, as if it were guiding him to investigate.
Kamizuki stood at the entrance, hesitated for a moment, and then activated his Byakugan to peer inside. After his Byakugan swept through the interior of the smaller cave, he found nothing particularly special. It was simply larger than the other side-caverns, the ground was flatter, and there was nothing else out of the ordinary.
Just as he was about to deactivate his Byakugan and continue deeper into the cave system, he suddenly spotted an oval object, resembling an egg, buried about two or three feet beneath the ground.
What piqued Kamizuki's curiosity was that this egg-like object was actually absorbing natural energy from the air into itself.
The more he looked, the more curious he became. Driven by his curiosity, he finally walked into the cave.
Entering the cave, Kamizuki carefully dug the egg-like object out of the soil. Once unearthed, it was indeed an egg. Looking at the object, which was as large as his own face, Kamizuki stared for a long time but couldn't identify what kind of creature it belonged to. The shell was covered in strange, rune-like patterns that looked quite eerie.
Clutching the egg—which was as big as his face and covered in strange runes—Kamizuki exited the small cave and continued deeper into the main cavern.
Just as Kamizuki walked out of the cave with the egg in his arms, he had already deactivated his Byakugan, so he failed to notice that the moment he stepped out, the speed at which the egg absorbed the surrounding natural energy increased several times over.
Inside the shell, a pair of crimson eyes suddenly manifested, and from those eyes, a strange expression emerged—half-smile, half-sneer...
