Kamizuki carried the strange egg as he walked through Firefly Cave. After another half a day or so, he still hadn't found anything else unusual.
Only then did Kamizuki realize: this damn cave really was freaking huge!
After grumbling for a bit, Kamizuki found a relatively comfortable spot in Firefly Cave and sat down to rest.
Once seated, he gently turned the Small Storage Ring he'd made himself, which was on his left hand, and took out some pastries and tea. He set them on the flat ground and began to enjoy his snack.
Just as Kamizuki was enjoying his pastries, the egg he'd set aside suddenly started acting up, wobbling back and forth.
The egg's movement startled Kamizuki while he was eating, and he nearly choked on a pastry.
Kamizuki stared at the egg in bewilderment as it rocked back and forth. He'd never expected it to move. He thought it was about to hatch!
So Kamizuki watched the egg wobble around for ages, looking utterly dumbfounded. But it just kept rocking back and forth, showing no sign of hatching.
Tentatively, Kamizuki took a small piece of pastry and placed it beside the egg, wanting to see how it would react.
The moment he set it down, the egg began rocking even more vigorously than before, trying its hardest to inch toward the pastry.
Kamizuki couldn't help laughing at the sight. He moved the pastry a little closer to the egg.
Once it was right in front of it, the egg rubbed itself against the pastry nonstop, as if it desperately wanted to eat it but couldn't.
Seeing the egg like that, Kamizuki couldn't hold back anymore. Clutching his stomach, he laughed and laughed.
After a while, Kamizuki finally stopped laughing and said to the egg, "You little thing. You haven't even hatched yet, and you're already craving food. Damn! Is this what people mean when they say you're born with a foodie disposition?"
Whether the egg couldn't understand Kamizuki or simply had no time for him, it kept rubbing against the pastry, as if it wished it had a mouth so it could take a bite.
Kamizuki was speechless at the little guy. He shook his head and finished the rest of his pastries.
After eating, Kamizuki sat on the ground and thought it over. Wandering around Firefly Cave like a headless fly was pointless. He might as well focus on cultivating.
Kamizuki rested on the ground for a while. The egg was still rubbing itself against the pastry, and there was nothing he could do about it, so he left it alone.
Kamizuki sat cross-legged and formed Hand Seals. His consciousness then entered his own mindscape.
As soon as Kamizuki's consciousness entered his mindscape, a layer of moonlight-colored chakra gradually formed around his body, enveloping him completely.
Kamizuki knew that this layer of moonlight-colored chakra appeared whenever he entered his mindscape to cultivate. But something happened that he didn't know about.
The egg, which had refused to leave the pastry alone no matter what Kamizuki did, abandoned it without a second thought when the moonlight-colored chakra appeared around him. It rolled straight over to Kamizuki and began absorbing the chakra around him without moving, as if it had entered a cultivation state of its own.
And so, the human and the egg began cultivating in this strange state.
Kamizuki hadn't entered his mindscape this time to look for even more powerful techniques to learn. He just wanted to reinforce the secret techniques he'd learned before. He felt his control over them was still a little weak.
After an unknown length of time, Kamizuki gradually left his mindscape, ending his cultivation.
As soon as Kamizuki opened his eyes, he noticed that the egg had somehow rolled over beside him.
Kamizuki picked up the egg, covered all over with strange markings, and said with a laugh, "Little guy, when did you roll over next to me? At this rate, you really will be a 'rolling egg.'"
After teasing it, Kamizuki held the egg in his hands. He felt that something about it had changed since he'd entered his cultivation state.
As Kamizuki held the egg, wondering what was different about it, he heard several cracking sounds from its shell.
The shell began to break apart bit by bit. Kamizuki stared in bewilderment, with a hint of curiosity and anticipation, as the egg began to hatch.
The shell slowly fell away, revealing a small creature that looked like a puppy.
About a minute later, all the shell had fallen off. What appeared before Kamizuki was indeed a creature resembling a little dog.
But Kamizuki just had to complain: "Author! Do you have any common sense at all? Have you ever seen a puppy hatch from an egg?"
Author: ...
Kamizuki looked at the creature, which resembled a puppy but had a very strange appearance.
Its shape was no different from an ordinary dog's. Its fur was completely black and had an unusual sheen. The tip of its tail was forked. Apart from that, there was nothing else particularly unusual about it.
In fact, judging by its appearance alone, Kamizuki couldn't see anything strange about it. He would have taken it for an ordinary puppy.
But Kamizuki was certain it wasn't just an ordinary puppy.
Seriously, how many people had ever seen a puppy hatch from an egg?
One of the guys in our group told me today that he'd tipped me. I didn't believe him. I'm such a newbie that I thought you had to wait until a book was published before you could tip the author!
But then I tried it myself, and sure enough, you can tip me!
So I wanted to ask: are there any kind-hearted rich folks who could tip me and keep me?
