Background / History

Shrek Academy is built on the Lima Plain in the eastern part of Shrek City, a major city with more than two million residents. The academy solely governs the city and pays no taxes to any nation. Its dedicated east gate serves as the academy entrance, while Shrek City’s other gates permit general passage. 1

The academy maintains an exceptionally selective enrollment process. Applicants are required to be under twelve years old and must pass soul-power testing; unsuccessful candidates are turned away immediately. Jiang Che had originally entered Shrek at age twelve after reaching level 32, with Mu En personally bringing him to the assessment. 2

Shrek is politically independent despite standing within the Heaven Dou Empire’s territory. No nation claims ownership over it, and its standing is high enough that continental states treat it with particular courtesy. 73

Organization and Facilities

Inner Court

The Inner Court is the academy’s elite student body and a goal for Outer Court students. Its members carry exclusive identity tokens marked “Shrek Inner Court” on the front and a phoenix relief on the reverse. 3

Sea God Island and Sea God Pavilion

Sea God Island lies east of Shrek City and is connected to the Outer and Inner Courts by a long bridge. Its pavilions, trees, and dense heaven-and-earth energy make it the academy’s core area. 5

Sea God Pavilion is Shrek Academy’s highest decision-making body. Only its elders and senior academy leadership are permitted to enter. Energy Gathering Arrays established by successive generations make the island’s ambient energy several times denser than outside, improving cultivation efficiency. 38

Shrek Inspectorate

The Shrek Inspectorate is an Inner Court-derived law-enforcement force composed of exceptional Inner Court disciples and Title Douluo-level elders. It targets uncontrolled or malicious soul master factions, particularly evil soul masters who cultivate through living beings’ flesh, blood, souls, or soul beast origins. 29

Standing and Reputation

Shrek is recognized as the strongest academy on the continent and possesses a ten-thousand-year reputation. Its dark-green uniforms occupy the foremost position among tournament teams, an honor accepted without objection by other academies. 69 72

The academy’s reputation carries direct military and political weight. Di Tian declined to pursue Jiang Che further because intervention by Mu En and Elder Xuan could escalate the situation into a full war between Shrek and the Star Dou Great Forest. 54 57

During the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Shrek receives exceptional treatment: a large private lounge, twenty sofas, dedicated attendants, and food and drinks unavailable to ordinary academy teams. 72

Story Role / Major Arcs

• Jiang Che’s enrollment mission — Jiang Che’s system identifies Shrek as the continent’s foremost power and directs him to enroll for protection and guidance. Although he is already an Inner Court student, he participates in the freshman assessment until his identity is recognized. 1 2 3
• Protection of junior students — Jiang Che intervenes when three Outer Court students are surrounded by soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest, acting because he refuses to abandon fellow Shrek students in danger. 4
• Conflict with evil soul masters — Jiang Che reveals his Shrek Inspectorate affiliation during the Far North confrontation with the Holy Spirit Cult, causing the opposing evil soul masters to retreat in fear. 29
• Return from the Far North — Jiang Che brings Huo Yuhao and the Ice Empress back to Shrek, arranging for the Ice Empress to receive an acceptable human identity through Mu En and Sea God Pavilion. 37 38
• Star Dou Great Forest incident — Shrek’s senior combatants move to support Jiang Che after Di Tian attacks him, deterring the Beast God from continuing the confrontation. 54 57
