The fifth floor of the hospital was the intensive care ward. The windows were fitted with safety bars, and the ward doors had been specially reinforced.
"It's half past midnight. Our treatment will begin at twelve forty-four a.m." Dr. Gao opened the medicine bottle on the table. "Before treatment begins, each patient should take one pill."
There were only four pills in Dr. Gao's bottle. Since the two doctors didn't need to take any, there was one pill missing by the time they got to Chen Ge.
After setting the empty bottle on the floor, Dr. Gao took another bottle of medicine from his pocket.
The two bottles looked exactly the same.
As Dr. Gao opened the packaging, Dr. Sun, seated beside Chen Ge, took a bottle of medicine from his own pocket. "I still have some left."
He poured one pill from his bottle. Its surface was pure white, but Chen Ge could faintly make out countless Black Threads within it.
Seeing this, Dr. Gao reached out to stop him. "Chen Ge's condition has improved. He only needs to take half a pill."
"Half a pill?" Dr. Sun looked at Dr. Gao in confusion. He should have known the treatment steps in advance.
"That's right. He only needs half." Dr. Gao seemed to have some reservations.
"That's not what the dean asked for." Dr. Sun shook his head expressionlessly. "You may be his attending physician, but the dean still gets the final say in certain matters."
He stood up and moved the pill toward Chen Ge's mouth. Chen Ge felt it brush against his lips, but, strangely, Dr. Sun didn't actually feed him the pill. He merely covered Chen Ge's mouth with his hand, keeping the pill tucked between his fingers.
